My mom always done that and I always like the coffee that way, but the guy at Starbuck said to store it in a dry place, I personally think he doesn't know what he's talking about. Does anybody else keep there coffee in the freezer?

Nope never kept it in the freezer, the most important thing is to keep air out. Wrap it up tightly and keep it in an airtight box. I've always been complimented on my coffee!

You can keep your coffee (in a ziploc bag) in the fridge.(Not freezer) Though I've been storing mine in a tightly sealed container lately, I actually prefer it this way. I'm still doing it with the Starbucks coffee. Its way better stored dried and in a cool place.

He's only giving you what Starbucks has taught him. Starbucks has a guideline they go by, its said that after 7 days of the coffee that has been grounded. The coffee is not at its high quality or freshness anymore. Starbucks is all about quality. This company is a good company to work for but there are just certain things I feel that are blown out of proportion. Like this one, that coffee is still good for months.

Well my mom still have coffee that I got when I left in April and the coffee still taste the same.

I too have been putting coffee in the freezer for a long time. It stays fresher that way.
Someone once told me either the freezer or refrigerator to store coffee to keep it fresh, but once it is opened I would not put in in the cupboard or pantry Just keep doing what your doing. You're right and he is wrong.

Kept it in the freezer before but I think the guy at Starbuck is right, storing it in a dry place works perfectly and doesn't alter the coffee.

Coffee beans have oil that can go rancid like nuts such as almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc.

STORE YOUR DAILY COFFEE...

It is important not to refrigerate or freeze your daily supply of coffee because contact with moisture will cause it to deteriorate. Instead, store coffee in air-tight glass or ceramic containers and keep it in a convenient, but dark and cool, location. Remember that a cabinet near the oven is often too warm, as is a cabinet on an outside wall of your kitchen if it receives heat from a strong afternoon or summer sun.

Opened containers store in a food saver bag/canister for up to one year.

Coffee is OK in the freezer. It will stay dry if sealed. He's just trying to sell you more coffee.

I keep coffee in freezer too, my mom teached me that. I wouldn't care at what Sturbuck's guy said, my coffee is better than theirs.

My family has kept coffee in the freezer for years and it's always been perfect. Tell your Starbucks "Barista" that his green apron is not a cape, the coffee beans are not divulging their secrets to him via osmosis, and he is not the omniscient super hero of all things coffee.

I have heard that you can keep the whole beans in the freezer in a airtight container for a few months. But not pre-ground coffee....it will lose its flavor that way.

Yes, I do! And I agree with you....I don't think he knows what he's talking about. I put the coffee in a sealed container along with a clean & dry paper towel. No harm done....works great!
