They can seize it if they have reasons to believe their's a proof of some kind of crime in it and to waiting to get a warrant could make them lose that proof because of the possibilities for you to destroy it.

Sketchy details, but: Yes they can seize a safe - to legally open it, without your consent, they would need a warrant. Unless it was in a car - then it would be an item in need of inventory. But thats another topic.
Shoe print in dust: fast lived evidence with no expectation of provacy. Not a problem.

did you report a crime ?? were they taken as evidence, no warrant needed for that.
You need to explain who was doing what, why were they interested in the safe,
If they were doing shoe print, then a crime was commited and they were taking evidnce
Please explain

they can take the safe with a warrant-they need prob cause to get a warrant but theyre rarely turned down
