Islamic Misinformation?

Question

Does anyone know how possibly to combat all this crazy misinformation about Islam?

Where on earth do people get stuff like: Allah is a pagan moon god? or If you blow yourself up you get 72 virgins in heaven waiting for you?

Also, if you are going to cite a source on Islam, make it something other than "Bible Believers.com", just a hunch, but I feel that it may contain some bias.

Same conspiracy was employed to decimate Christianity, Judaism and the Abrahamic religion before them. I believe you know the reasons behind such vilification's of the Truth, the most important among them is to get people to worship their own rulers and the powerful in the societies they live in as slaves.

When people and nations(the West) live in darkness, they lose sense of direction. In an information age, knowledge–driven global culture of reason, ignorance is no longer a requisite to learn from the living history. The previous Empires knew their geography and limits, but the newly barbaric articulated American Empire in its infancy, is challenging to the limits of the Laws of God and appears obsessed with “fear” of being replaced by the new emerging nations of Asia and South America. Filthy phallic worshiper Bush invoked the “War on Islam”, as a dictum of power, not reason and wisdom, to camouflage the prospective future with acts of barbarity and to dispel the notion of accountability in global affairs. Historically, people and nations pursuing this path of behavior have ended up in self-defeat and self-destruction.

The 9/11 attacks and religious doctrines have no common ground. Hourly paid intellectuals turned guardian of approved truth, allege that Islam breeds terrorism. The Western mass media complements the scientifically discovered notion to poison the public perceptions and source of judgments against the Arabs and Muslims. The Neo-Conservatives helped to rob the humanity of its human heritage. The perception of ‘radical Islam’ was invented and enhanced by the ‘fear’ of terrorism and as a precursor to attack Muslims.

It is the low educated madrissa Mullas who terrorize the people of the fire of hell and then tell them the short cut to heaven (like suicide bombing). Actually these are the mullas who spread misinformation about islam and defame it. These mullas have been able to penetrate into the political system of islamic countries thus been able to misguide innocent people. Till the time the role of religion and politics is bifurcated in islamic countries, the problem will not be solved.

Most of these misinformations as you put it comes from the hadith - once Muslims get rid of this and their Imams and Leaders feeding them this junk and start reading the Quran for themselves then it should get easier and more logical. There is no 72 virgins in the Quran - it is a story (hadith).

Regarding the adaptation of Islam from pagan worship, it is nothing new as even Christianity adapted a number of pagan rituals in order to win over converts.

Please educate your mullahs and radical extremists among you in all muslim countries. Stop complaining about mis-information. There is no mis-information. People are not stupid, they know the truth man. People know a religion by its people not by its book. I know, Buddhism as the most peaceful religion; not by reading but through its people. And so applies to Islam.
Mullahs and radicals are after the life of any muslim who happens to speak the truth about the bad side of their societies. examples:
Taslima Nasreen, the Bangladeshi writer; wrote the truth of ethnic cleansing done by Muslims and drove out Hindus from their homeland.

Salman Rushdie, writer of "Satanic Verses" was given death fatwa/ threat for his book---pure Intolerance.

Dutch film producer was murdered because he was making a film based on suppression of Muslim women throughout---as told to him by a Muslim migrant living in that country.

Every religion has some bad side and some good side. Intelligent people ignore the bad side and reject it simply. But Muslims do not dare to do that thinking Quran can never have any line wrong in it. You should not be blinded by faith that you start literally following a religion line by line---that is called radicalism and that breeds intolerance and extremism.
Islam and muslims need to modenize their societies by separating religion from day to day life; which is not.Religion is purely a private matter.
The perception of non-muslims about Muslims is that there is too much religion in your day to day life and teach intolerance and hatred to children in the name of Quran. And I being a non-muslim feel intimidated by such people and even by the sight of hundreds of Burqa clad women in a muslim country---not a comforting sight.
So get up man and try to bring some revolution in your muslim societies, modernize them--whatever small way you can.

Unfortunately for Muslims, the press wants/needs to villify someone - and guess who that someone is?
The voice of the militants and the extremists is louder than that of the majority. I don't know the answer - but it would help if people stopped based their assumptions on stereotypes.
