Obviously this is not a secret, and has been reported to the officials. The other agency that could be of help if you are truly afraid of the environment your sister has those children in, is Social Services. Keep in mind, if they investigate this report and feel your sister is an unfit mother, the children will be taken away from her.

That is so wrong!! I can't believe that... sometimes you just have to keep reporting to the CPS before they can officially do anything if there is no proof in the home. I defintely think you should report that, that should not be happening. Do a search for social services on the yahoo page for your state and read up on it. You should do what feels right.

I think you just need to keep reporting new information to CPS. You should not keep a secret about something that can be harmful to innocent children. All of that is wrong -- but your sister has obviously decided the man is more important to her than her children. You cannot do anything about that, but you should be doing everything you can to protect the children that DO live in her house.

First of all what state does your sister live in?? And what the hell is wrong with those cops? But I think your best bet is to report here to child protection services if you are seriously concerned about the kids. Try looking into it a bit more before deciding check out www.children.gov.on.ca/CS/en/programs/ChildProtection/default.htm

I'm surprised that the authorities aren't concerned. These days, they tend to go overboard because they don't want to get the blame if the kids get high and do something stupid.
If the police aren't interested in the story, contact the local child welfare offices. She's committing fraud by getting money for children that aren't in her care. It's much easier to prove than some of the other things you mentioned, so it may finally get the ball rolling.
Please keep trying. These kids deserve better.

That sounds like a pretty crazy household. Little kids should not be taking drugs and alcohol. That is just plain idiotic. I won't advise going to the police. You have to decide that for yourself. It sounds like a bad environment for anyone to live in though. There are a lot of crazy people out there and sometimes they are related to us. sometimes you just have to detach yourself from the situation or you will get swept up in the madness. Good luck.

Report her to Child Protective Services and your state welfare commission. Bear in mind that they won't be able to do anything without rock-solid proof that she is committing fraud or is doing something to endanger the lives/safety of the children, so take pictures or video if you have to and get as many eye-witnesses to sign statements saying they have seen these things happen. Good luck!

By keeping this kind of information a secret, you are committing a felony also. Tell the police, tell child protective services, tell it to the prosecutor, but do it soon.
