a park or a nice restaurant or just a night on the couch. Somewhere that she would find romantic. It really depend on what she is into. If she likes nature use the park or go on a nature hike. If she likes sports take her to a game and have it written on either the scoreboard or if there is a blimp. Or if you have the money take her on a cruise or a romantic vacation. If not maybe do a joint day at the spa. Make her feel special and make it a day she will never forget. And if she likes flowers buy her flowers but find out what kind is her favourite. Also if she has parents still living give them a call and I bet they will have some really good ideas.

You could go to Edinburgh while the festival is still on and propose while on the Castle esplanade...overlooking the city and the north of Scotland. Also in Edinburgh, Arthur's Seat is a lovely hill. You could go up there to watch the sunrise. You could take a blanket/picnic mat and have a really unique and exclusive little picnic...she'll remember if forever. When she begins to think it is so nice to spend time with you...you could produce the ring. you could do that one anywhere good.

Also, you could go on a romantic picnic and put the ring under the picnic mat. At an opportune moment you could go: "Argh, there's a rock digging into me from beneath this mat...feels like the hardest rock known to man...

Also you could go on the London Eye...though it's not original.

Or what about doing something sneaky...going somewhere beautiful that you're not supposed to be...

Or maybe you could go to the botanics and have a gardener in the big water lily section put the ring on one of the giant leaves and when you walk through there just pick it off...

Or go to an island in Scotland...where you really get a sense of how small you are and how wild and beautiful it is. That is really romantic...

Also, you could put your ring in a bottle with the message "will you marry me" and while you are having a romantic picnic you could go off to the beach, put it in a rock pool and then go back there and allow to special someone to "happen to find it".

I am a girl. Man, I love coming up with these ideas. I only hope that whoever I ever meet will rival them!

the best place is different for every one, U could try the old classic of a romantic restaurant, for a meal.

one of the best tho, i would take her to the place U had Ur first date, or where U met for the first time, or the first place U knew U wanted to spend the rest of Ur life with her.

try to make it personal to the two of U, even if it means getting down one one knee on the number 43 bus, if it means something to the both of U then that's what U want. if not really the place U ask her, but the question itself, and the way U ask her

If you can afford it,go for a weekend in Paris(there should be some cheap flights and go for a 3* hotel ( they`re cosier) in the centre). Then, early afternoon,so you can go to a cafe-bar after popping the question, get up the Eiffel tower.YOU MUST ALLOW FOR THE QUEUES.Make a big show of it--the french love all that and will probably cheer you on.Get the hotel to pre-book a meal at a restaurant for evening before you go out.It might sound a bit much, but it`s a big question and she`ll love the romance, every woman does.Just go for it! GOOD LUCK!!

Were did you go on your first date, was it somewhere you both have a special place in your heart for, maybe go back there and propose to her, if it wasn't a place you would rather go back to then maybe a romantic restaurant followed by a nice little stroll under the stars would be lovely, hope where ever you choose she is thrilled to bits and you get the answer your hoping for too, good luck.

Beach at sunset
Top of a mountain
Rent a suite at a hotel and ask if they do an engagement package with bubbly and rose petals
The place where you first met, first said "I Love You", or first had a special moment.
Someplace important to her.
On a cliff overlooking the ocean

You get the idea.

the place where you first met seems to be a winner (worked for my husband) we met in high school...so he blind folded me and took me into the school (turns out he had the principal and janitors in on it too) and led me to the classroom where we had English class our freshman year, which is where we first met. He removed the blindfold and he had the ring and flowers on the desk where I used to sit. We were 25 when we got engaged so it was amazing that he remembered all that.

The place is not as important as the way you make her feel when you ask.
A good place would be a favourite restaurant or place where you both feel happy.

A friend of mine got engaged this way

He took her to her favorite restaurant. Before he got there , he made a dessert plate that said "Will you marry me?" he took that plate to the restaurant and had them put her dessert on it. As she was eating she could see that there was some sort of message. When she figured it out she was SOOO excited!! They also have the little plate he made as a keepsake!
