Why am I so bitter?

I have always been a crusader. I would have been with Dr. King and marched to Washington. I was a commie hippie against the war. Now it's my hatred of religious fanatics putting their noses in other peoples business and just generally having some really screwed up ideas. I find it just ignorant and deplorable to hear any one say that a persons sexuality is a choice. Why would any one choose to live a lifestyle that would make them targets of ignorant and bigoted people? Have you ever asked a gay person when they first realized that they were more attracted to their own sex? Why don't you take the time to find out instead of spouting bible gibberish that has absolutely no relevance to anyone's life today? And if you do believe that hogwash than why do you think you have the right to judge? Ultimately, isn't it only God that should do the judging? Where in the bible does it say that homosexuality is a choice? I haven't seen the word choice anywhere in there, have you?

How can you compare homosexuality to phedophiles? Being gay doesn't hurt anyone! What is wrong with love between two consenting adults? See I am mad again!

By the way, its been around an hour now since I asked. I haven't seen even 1 answer with a scripture pertaining to sexual orientation is a choice. Gee, I wonder why? Oh , I know, because there isn't one!

Actually if you check the original texts of the Bible, you won't find the word "homosexual" anywhere.

Why?

Because the word itself wasn't even invented until 1800 by a German Psychologist.

It doesn't say anything (one way or the other) about what causes a homosexual orientation. This is why the Catholic Church holds such an orientation to be morally neutral.

But the Bible does make a clear statement on homosexual BEHAVIOR, and I'm sure you know what that statement is.

This is why the Catholic Church, while holding the ORIENTATION to be morally neutral, holds the BEHAVIOR to be morally illicit.

Just because a person is oriented to a particular behavior doesn't automatically make that behavior okay.

For instance, society doesn't accept pedophilia, even though we know that pedophiles clearly have an orientation toward such sexual behavior.

Homosexuals like to claim that since they were "born that way," society has no right to judge their behavior.

Yet, there's just as much evidence that pedophiles are "born that way" as well -- and yet we don't hear any calls for society to hold off on its judgments against pedophilia.

Bottom line: an orientation toward a behavior is not an automatic moral green-light to engage in that behavior. It depends on what it is.

Obviously, there are far too many who judge when they should try to help.

And there many well-intending people who don't do a very good job of focusing on loving those they are trying to help. Instead they let their personal biases cloud the good they intend to do.

While I know very little about your situation, and could not possibly hope to give a "good enough" answer, I can offer the link that follows. Perhaps understanding the other side a little better, and finding that there are good, well-intending people in the world might help ease some of the bitterness, and lead you to a joy-filled life.

people like that need to step back and realize there are things that they do that their "GOD" probably wouldn't approve of anyway......everyone is hypocritical to a point,i think people are jealous of gays,if they werent,why all the controversy,and i ha vent found one person that can say homosexuality is wrong WITHOUT using ridiculous,archaic scripture,which i find to be enormously small minded and juvenile,makes me think I'm in a sand box in second grade,but that's what happens when religion controls everything,i think religion has been a conspiracy since the beginning of civilization,look at the control it has today over peoples minds....only if people were smarter and didn't "buy" into such mythology....you have every right to be bitter,i am bitter to no end when it comes to religion,which is mans best con ever.

As far as people "sticking their noses" into other peoples business, why does the raddical gay lobby always push the most divisive issues onto the general public. The resulting "backlash" only hurts less "flamboyant" gays who only want to get on with their lives , NOT educate the "breeders"

I completely agree with you; the fundamentalists are a big problem in government. I wouldn't bother asking them to take the time to do anything that THEY THINK is beneficial to you.
