I've been working out and dieting for 7 months now. Im 5 ft. 7. 5in. and when i started i was 184 pounds i've gotten down to 158-160 but i can't seem to lose anymore i've been at this same weight for over 2 months now. I eat fairly well and exercise for an hour and a half about 3-5 days a week. I've also been regularly increasing the intensity of my workouts. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get to my goal weight of 135? I want to try and reach it by January 2007. Thanks

Cardiovascular exercise is very effective in removing excess fat, especially if you do it before your first meal. Anything that gets your heart rate up for at least half an hour: jogging, fast walking, swimming (not floating!), jumping jacks, walking uphill.

I don't know your diet, but eat lots of veggies and tone down on the dairy and red meat. Drink no soda. Water is king. One soda per day equals 15 pounds per year! Eat small meals, frequently (4-6 times per day). Avoid processed flour (white bread) whenever possible.

Look at food as a reward for the work you do. You don't need much if you're not doing much.

The human body was "made" to be a hunter-gatherer. It's most healthy when engaging the world actively in order to get the things necessary for life: water, food, and warmth. Make your life a little more difficult, on purpose, so you don't fall into the amniotic sac that people are trying to live in these days.

Don't watch TV. You tend to eat and do nothing while watching it.

Above all, fix in your mind the image of yourself as a healthy person at your ideal weight. This is the best thing you can do to get there. Look at pictures of people with your ideal body type and see yourself as one of them.

Your mindset will determine your actions.

I think that doing a lot of LSD (no, not the drug, but Long Slow Distance) with running works great for losing weight. That and also doing a lot of long slow distance on the Nordic Track will melt those pounds right away.

On another note, I don't think that your primary concern should be weight. There are much more important factors to consider like BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), and percentage body fat. In my view, a lady who is 5'7" and 160 pounds is ideal for me! You'd certainly get no complaints from me :-) Also, in terms of physical appearance, I think that dress size and how tones you look is much more important than your weight. If you are anything under a size 14 and have some nice voluptuous curves, be thankful for having the best possible type of female body, at least in my view :-)

Anyway, good luck with your goal and don't worry too much about your weight. It sounds like you're doing great already!

This is what I do when I need to lose weight...I stop all fried and fatty foods, I drop all sugar, and this is my exercise routine...5 days a week I ride my stationary bike for 30 minutes plus walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes..I workout with weights only 3 days a week due to the fact that weights can build up muscle weight and can cause your weight to go up instead of down.

For an almost calorie free snack I buy veggie trays and use low fat ranch dressing to dip the veggies in.
You will continue to lose weight, your doing great by not losing weight too fast!

Keep up the great work you will reach your goal.

Hope that this helps you.

One way you can loose twenty pounds is very easy. It's not that you have to completely stop eating fast foods and sweets just eat them once in a great while. Swimming will also help! Do not watch more than half an hour of t.v. a day, instead just hang out with friends at the mall. It is only healthy to either watch a half-hour of t.v or a half-hour on the computer. At the maximum a hour.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

I think at 5 ft, almost 8 inches, 135 could be too low for you. I mean, that coulda been your weight in high school or something but you probably didnt work out then. Plus, muscle weighs more than fat. As long as you continue what you are doing, I think its a very healthy choice. I dont know if you are male or female but I am 5ft 8 inch and I was 183 lbs but worked it off to 163 now.

But if you still want to lose, I wouldnt try to build strength but rather tone your muscles so they dont get bigger but you are still getting the about same calorie burn. That means if you are using weights, use less weights so you can do more repititions. As far as cardio goes, go faster...walking and running the same distance burns the same amount of calories but after you run, your muscles are torn and need more energy to repair. (the pain you feel in your running legs are because running causes micro tears in your muscle that need energy to repair into stronger muscles)

It sounds like you work out enough so managing your eating habits may be the next step in losing the rest. Eat smaller portions, avoid processed sugars. Eat whole grains, plenty of fruits and veggies...
Good luck through the holidays! I always seem to gain five pounds over Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Try the extreme body make over. I saw it on an infromercial the other night. They send u a kit to examine ur body type and where you want to loose the weight. Then it tells you how to diet to loose the weight. It really goes by how ur metabolism works with certain foods. It tells u what foods to eat that help ur metabolism boost. There is no starving, and you are able to enjoy food. Do a yahoo search and find the site to order the products. And it isnt expensive either,
Congrats on your weight loss!!!
