One of the worst things you can do is listen to people that have NO clue about ADHD, whether in children or adults, and try to tell you that medicine is not needed. I have lived with ADHD for my entire life and studies have proved that this is a condition (I like to consider it a step forward for mankind) because most of us that have it are far higher in the IQ area than most NORMAL people.
We are able to multi-task better, come up with solutions that others may not see, we are more social, and we are by far the group that comes up with new ideas.
So we forget things sometimes. When your brain is going a million miles per hour; stuff happens. That is where I say, thanks ritalin,. I have tried the others and never liked how they made me feel. (Sick, drowsy, lethargic). Those drugs require you to continue taking them. Ritalin I have found to be a drug that I can take as I need it. I can go for a week without needing it and then when a super critical task comes up I just take my pills an go from there. I would strongly recommend that you get someone in the school health area to keep a supply of Ritalin on hand for your daughter to take. Stay with it and don't go the other route.

Well a few days back I had my first Adderall XR 20mg experience. About two hours into the adderall, I felt like my eyes where in “tunnel vision” and I became very focused. My drive to WANT to socialize was gone. My easy to access emotions such as laughter/enthusiasm gone as well. I was stuck in focus mode.contact: otc.drugs@salesperson.net

Give it a shot. See what happens for 1 week. Be very careful with adderall though. At 71/2, this shouldnt be a problem, but in 2-3 years it may. Lots and lots of kids are crushing it and snorting it. I know they do it to rialin as well, but the problem is that adderall is a racemic mixture of pure amphetamine. Seriously. On the east coast, we arent seeing many problems yet, but I cannot tell you how many docs on the west coast and south west are coming up with this issue. The drug mfg says its an L form, and the mirror image (the R form) gets people high-so its ok. I'd say that too if I were making the drug, but just if you keep your child on it, keep this in the back of your mind.

I've seen a lot of success with adderall and bot successes and failures with ritalin. Each person is different and has different needs. At your child's age, I wouldn't be worried about her crushing it and snorting it or sharing with others because she's taking it home in your presence. As she gets older you'll need to talk to her about it and watch how many pills are left/ how her behavior is. good luck with the adderall.

I took Adderall for a while, but it kept me up for over 40 hours and made my heart beat too fast. When it finally wore off I was vibrating. That stuff is too addictive and I stopped taking it. I would have another talk with your daughter's doctor.

You should have never gotten your child addicted to psychiatrists drugs in the first place, now she will have to take them her whole life or will go through terrible withdrawal symptoms. ( these drugs also kill any child's wants to have fun or be normal, it turns them into drones) Another drug means more side affects, I think that if you had waited a few more years your daughter would have started to get better with remembering things and not goofing off in class as her brain developed and she became more mature. It might not be to late to get your child off the drugs and see what happens in the following years and then take action with drugs if it is absolutely necessary when she enters higher grades that start to matter.
