This non-profit foundation is dedicated to finding the cause of an emerging infectious disease, which mimics scabies and lice. We refer to this infectious disease as "Morgellons Disease", due to the need for a consistent label when contacting politicians and health departments.

The cause of Morgellons Disease is currently a medical mystery.

Most individuals with this disease report disturbing crawling, stinging, and biting sensations, as well as non-healing skin lesions, which are associated with highly unusual structures. These structures can be described as fiber-like or filamentous, and are the most striking feature of this disease. In addition, patients report the presence of seed-like granules and black speck-like material associated with their skin.

Neurological function severely affected
The peripheral nervous system is often affected by this disease, but the most significant element of the infection, appears to be the effect on the central nervous sytem. Nearly all people with this illness report extreme difficulty with mental concentration and short term memory. Mood disorders, such as depression and Bipolar Disorder, are extremely common in this group of patients, affecting well over half of all individuals reporting symptoms of Morgellons Disease. Parents of children with Morgellons disease report that the majority of these children have ADHD, ODD, mood disorders, or autism. It is estimated that 65% of these children have some form of psychiatric illness, and 10% have an autism spectrum disorder.

No one knows the answer - seeing as how the number infected are a very small percentage of our population, I doubt it could be either chemical warfare or genetic farming practices.

The mind is a very powerful thing, which can be good or bad for an individual - on the website (see link) it says most people who have been diagnosed with this disease suffer from depression, so, my preventative measure would be to maintain that positive attitude!

I saw a program a few weeks ago on either TLC or ABC that discussed it quite in depth.....most doctors state that it is all in the persons mind but since more & more cases have arisen over the last few years they are doing in depth research into it.

Morgellons or Morgellons disease is a controversial name for an alleged polysymptomatic syndrome characterized by patients finding fibers on their skin, which they believe are related to other symptoms, including intense itching, skin lesions, as well as a wide range of other chronic symptoms. These symptoms are occasionally accompanied by the belief in an infestation by some unknown arthropod or parasite. The term Morgellons is not in accepted use by the medical community and the syndrome is widely held by the medical community to be a type of delusional parasitosis. There is no agreed-upon physical cause, etiology, diagnostic criteria or proven treatment. Pressure from patients, including doctors and nurses who claim to have a host of difficult symptoms, resulted in a June 2006 statement from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that it had begun organizing a committee for the purpose of investigating Morgellons to determine whether it exists.

There is a Morgellon's Research Foundation that was founded in 2002 they have a website, perhaps you can acqurie additional information there http://morgellons.org/mediapr.html

I'd love to know. A family member showed me a small welt about six months ago that had small white fibers coming from it. We thought that it was from a cut that had some lint in it.

A couple of weeks ago, there was a television show talking about Morgellans and the white fibers, along with a variety of distressing symptoms that the family member has been seeing multiple doctors for, but cannot find a source for the problems.

It's frightening.

I felt alone in Christianity and that I wasnt good enough ever no matter what, then I had a girlfriend who was a wiccan and so I got into that and I felt like I was hitting something I had along time ago when I was younger, I always believed in the Old Gods but I sorta always thought that they were gone but thanks to the gf I was able to come back to them. Now I am a Heathen, proud Asatruar, and have felt like I have finally found where I am meant to be, it was a great feeling like I had been freed from everything but as though I had been put into something that fit me perfectly and my soul basicly jumped in joy. I have always felt like Tyr was the one who wanted me, but Freyr seems to be more present and easy to converse with I have also seen symbols of his such as particular animals in dreams just before big events. So I am unsure yet which is the one that I will end up with being mostly devoted too. But none the less its a great feeling when you feel youve come home basicly, I have really changed alot since becoming devoted.

Morgellon's seems to appear in literature back several centuries, so it's very rare, but not caused by any modern developments. No cause is known, no treatments are known, most medical authorities still seem to deny its existence.
