it just makes them feel really comfortable and protected. Kittens do that to their mothers and really, they never grow out of it.
So, when you're cats do that, it's a sign that your cat really loves you and feels extremely comfortable around you!

Cats don't outgrow it. When they knead their pawn into you, it means, in a way, you remind them of their mother. Kittens' instinct is to knead on their mother's stomach while feeding. They also nuzzle you because it feels good to scratch their faces.

They won't outgrow it, it's instinct. When they knead and nuzzle on their owners they're saying "I really love you, now where's my treats?"

They can do it all of their lives. Bedtime just wouldn't be the same if my one cat didn't jump up and knead and "nurse" for a few minutes!

Humans become their surrogate mothers, so they do what they do as kittens to get Mom's attention.
My cat even drools like he is anticipating milk.

it's an "I love you, pet me and take care of me" thing that they do with their moms then with their human moms. I haven't found a cat yet that doesn't do it :P
