My so called friend has told me that most men do not like overweight women-what is your opinion on this?

My friend and I were having a discussion about dating - online/offline etc. She said that men think that women who are 'fat' 'overweight' whatever you want to call it think that women who look like that have no self respect for themselves.

She said that most men on online dating sites are only looking for slim/average/athletic.

What chance does someone who is overweight have of meeting someone?

All honest answers appreciated.

That is not your friend. Everyone's tastes are different. There is someone for everyone. Keep your head up and be proud of who you are!

You would be VERY surprised at how many men actually want a full figured woman. Even better, full figured women actually have an advantage... men who show them interest usually generally HAVE an interest in them. It's a fact that some guys actually prefer larger women to the skinny model types. A lot of the time bigger women have more self confidence and you can take em out for a burger without them nibbling on the lettuce to watch their calorie intake. If a guy has seen that happen, it's really not appealing. Just remember that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Just because half the guys of the world believe that models are the only women alive... it doesn't mean that the other half are following the same reasoning. Everyone has their own taste, and big girls are some what of a delicacy... not everyone has a taste for it, but some can't get enough.

Fugly - means fat and ugly, maybe you shouldn't use the term if you don't konw what it means.

To answer your question like everyone else has mentioned everyone is different what one person likes another might not.

There are various sites out there such as dating bbw but these sites attract some strange men, one of my friends said that it was mostly married men - married to size 8-10 wanting a size 18+ on the side!

I personally believe that if you are happy as you are men can see that and regardless of your size personality and confidence count.

Younger men will want a trophy woman on their arm, but a real man can handle a real women - regardless of her size.

I think that you have as much chance as the rest of us meeting someone, it is not easy the dating game is a minefield!

I like a gal with a sum meat on her. If a girl is really obese it does give the appearance of no self respect or care about themselves. Some big girls are wonderful people with great personalities. "Overweight" is such a loose term that the media has used to describe almost every girl who doesn't wear a size four. Odds are good because a great personality goes a long way. I like all girls but prefer one with a tad extra padding:)

The men who dig or don't mind extra pounds on a woman are likely fewer than those who do mind...however there are still plenty out there so have no worries...

How do you feel about overweight men? They have the same issue as overweight women with regard to being generally less physically desirable...but still plenty of women don't mind and so all big guys aren't dateless...

Its true.......... most men are looking for slim/average/athletic women/girls......... however, I have this friend that is extremely over weight and she has guys falling all over her....... now, they are not men that I would date or have anything to do with..... but she is confident and has self respect and even though her body is heavey......... she has a beautiful face. To sum this up, there are guys everywhere that are all about your personality and not about your body type......... you take a chance where ever you go looking for men...... and trust me there are plenty of men that will date and be with you no matter what you look like........ I am a very pretty girl myself with an average body, and the guy i was just with left me for someone that is less attractive and low self respect. I guess he feels more comfortable with her. Not to be mean, but its true....i wouldnt bone a fatty with a cute face (although some of my friends like the "heavy hottie") IMO- i would take a butterface with a sweet body....but if you are overweight, you can meet someone...like an overweight guy.

My overweight guy friends get denied by skinny hotties, so dont be surprised if good looking guys will deny a large woman...it works both ways.

In my opinion this is a bunch of bull. It is possible your "friend" was raised to be very weight conscience. And possibly thinks a thin gal has a much better chance of dating overall. I am a female and would consider my self thick in all the right areas. I have had men (friends, strangers, relatives) tell me they like there woman with a little meat on their bones. Have you ever heard of more cushion for the pushin...?

A man's preference differs from one man to the other, depending on where "looks" rank in their look for an ideal woman. Personally, looks ranks last in my list ;) For you to get a better picture at this, observe married couples, their looks and what category they fall in, "slim" or "fat". You will notice that the majority is NOT as per what your friend thinks, as the majority of people are overweight.

I am sorry, but your friend is a jerk. People, men and women, are attracted to different types of people. It is true that some people find overweight people unattractive, but at the same time there are just as many people who find thin people just as unattractive. I think maybe your friend is having body image issuses and using you as a way to make herself feel better. Tell her to kiss off! Besides, healthy relationships should be basd more on personality than physical aspects.

I think that anyone who is a little overweight would have a good chance of meeting someone. Not all men are into stick skinny girls, I think that you or your friend need to look for an "older" or mature man instead of a little pup!
