..people of another ethnicity that are citizens of the United States.

A lot of trash-talking has been said about these so-called "sloppy, Corona drinking" Mexicans that steal jobs. We are all entitled to our opinions, but as an American person of Mexican decent I am taking offense to all these racial comments.

I was born in raised in the US, so were my parents and grandparents. I have never even been to Mexico..well, except to party at the clubs (I live in El Paso, Texas which borders Mexico) so I am just as American as all of you haters. It even bothers me to see what a negative impact illegal immigrants have made in our country, but is all this name calling necessary?

Instead of sitting there on the computer and degrading the Mexican culture (when most of you eat tons of Mexican food anyway..don't lie) do something about it. Write your congressman, help educate some of these hardworking illegals and provide them with the services so they can become an American.

I know the difference, unfortenaly most don't. If they see a brown skinned person he's mexican or illegal in their eyes. There is a lot of hatred and name calling that does no one any good. Did you hear about the Oregon GOP resolution, it would deny citizenship to any child born on U.S. soil to an illegal or legal immigrant. How crazy is that, they are now attacking legal immigrants who have an individual assigned SSN, who work and pay taxes, who obey the laws. This has gone far beyond "illegal" to just right out hatred from both sides, it is not helping the country and it's not helping the issue. What I do believe in is that the borders should be controlled to deter or limit the amount of illegas crossing, and when I say borders, I mean all the borders and coastlines not just the southern border. This will deter or minimize illegal entry and secure against possible terrorists and drug smugglers. Then we should find those illegals who have commited crimes and deport them, and the rest of the illegals who yearn to make an honest life, work, and obey the laws should be given amnesty, i don't hate illegals, nor do I hate citizens, we just gotta take this issue as an "illegal immigrant" issue and leave all race aside.

I sure can't speak for everyone but I believe most folks DO know the difference between legal and illegal. How hard is that to understand? What people get upset about, understandable, is our Government talking out both sides of it's mouth when it comes to immigration. We import legal workers from all over the world -- if they have a degree. They come, work, pay taxes and go home.

The illegals, not just Mexican, don't seem to want to do things by our laws or assimilate and learn the language

I will admit to loving Mexican food, that I cook myself. But what the heck does Mexican food have to do with the issue you seem to be so steamed about?

While I believe there is a big difference between mexican and illegal alien, I am frustrated..especially when being against illegal aliens, I am called a racist, which isn't true. (my son is half mexican for g's sake)

I think most of us do. For the record, i don't hate illegal aliens. I understand they are trying to make a better life for themselves.

I am upset with our government's lack of control over the entry of these people.

The immigration issue is a wonderful way of hiding racism behind politics.

If illegal immigrants are SO horrible and such a detriment to the USA, I think the US would have fallen on its knees by now.

You ascribe a lot of hate to people being against illegal immigration. What about you? Do you approve of people entering and living and working in the United States illegally? Did you know it's against the law? More to the point, it seems like u don't care?

I'm sure you've got lots of great hispanic friends and people back home, too. But: The law still needs to be followed, and where it's not followed, it needs to be enforced. Mexico has a BIG problem with its' citizens entering the United States illegally. Now, the United States has a big problem.

If you're a legal immigrant/descendant of same, that's one thing.
But, the 'si, se puede' crowd that's decided that they'll move in and basically dare anyone to do something about it doesn't have nearly as many fans as it used to, especially now that people are thinking about the long-term ramifications.

I support border enforcement, not because of hate, but because well, for starters, illegal immigration is IL-LEGAL, as in 'against the law'. Illegal immigration is to legal immigration as doing a buck-thirty through a residential neighborhood is to driving in observance of the speed limit in a lawful fashion.

If your first act upon entering the United States is to break the law, what does that say about your intentions 6 months down the road, a year, 5 years?

Illegal immigration is a Biggie. Say what you want about character etc., there's some hard numbers that speak strongly against any liberalization whatsoever of our border laws, matter of fact they make an outstanding supporting argument for enhancing enforcement ten-fold, and authoring of brand-new legislation to curb ALL immigration until and unless some hard-and-fast agreements are made between our two countries regarding long-term governance of the whole situation.

The real question is, will our legislators step up to the podium and take issue with this, or sit and twiddle their thumbs until it's finally too late to really do anything at all?

Mexico's got huge crime problems, a lot of them are related to all this easy access to the United States. To better our relations with Mexico, I fully believe that completing the border fence as well as taking action on some other problem aspects of the whole situation will be highly beneficial. 'Conflict-of-interest' doesn't even begin to cover some of this stuff, and I doubt seriously we've heard the last of 'you stole our land' and other empty hyperbole meant to engender pity and sympathy for a bunch of people who basically ran away from their civic failures in one country, and now expect OUR country to take them in unquestioningly. Face facts: Were it not for foreign aid, Mexico would have gone down the tubes years ago. Most, like 90% of that aid comes from...the United States. Sadly, it's time to recognize that Mexico's become chronically dependent on the United States, as have its' people, and getting things back on a straight and narrow path will mean some changes, such as slamming the door on illegal immigration, which is about 10 years overdue.

Mexico needs to develop independently as a country, and they won't do it until the 'easy out' umbilicus to the United States is disconnected, plain, and simple.

As far as mexican food goes, as much as I enjoy a good burrito,
or the tamales at my favorite mexican restaurant, if it'll help matters, I'll never touch another one. This entire mess has gone well beyond simple stupidity, and I hope you'll take a step back from your personal feelings on the matter, and really look at this in the light of the degradation potential it has for the United States.
We've carried Mexico for long enough. Time for em to start making the opportunities they're after right there at home in their own country. Want jobs? Build factories. Want good government? Participate in your own civics. No one's degrading mexican culture, people are plainly and simply unhappy about the long-term tolerance of our own representatives with chronic law-breaking where our borders are concerned. Also, don't think that it's JUST Mexico. Canada's been shown to be a drug-nest/smuggling base to sell drugs in america, too, as an example, and there's a lot of illegal aliens from asian nations and elsewhere, too.

There's 6.6 billion people in the world today, that's billion with a 'b', and frankly they can't all live in the United States. If you want to move to and live and work in america, that's all good and fine, as long as it's all legal, and above-board, and done in good faith. But, what we have now is a mess that mainly revolves around money, and corruption, and incompetence, and the unwillingness of our representatives to take the bull by the horns and take care of business. No offense to you, or your friends, but illegal immigration needs to be ended. I hope you can see past your ethnic bias to realize that this transcends anything to do with skin color, and has everything to do with trying to preserve our country in spite of past years of gross incompetence where the border is concerned....america's not for sale, and no, you can't just move in however you feel like it. Immigration laws need to be followed, or immigration needs to be suspended, plain, and simple...
