Tried an order in a small restaurant in San Juan Batista. I normally really like deep fried foods, but this was too boring for me to try a repeat.
The good thing was that they provided a couple of garnishes on the side; sour cream and a kind of pico de gallo. Kept it from being so plain and cheesy.
Maybe as an appetizer.

I'm an ESL teacher and I learned to love papusas from my Salvadorean students. Luckily for me, there are a lot of wonderful restaurants in the DC area that serve fresh made papusas. I can never decide whether I want the cheese, pork or beans, so I usually get the mixed. What a cheap, wonderful food...and the curita (Salvadorean cole slaw) is excellent! YUM!
