I've noticed that consignment sales are popping up all over the place. And you get more money for your stuff at them! Like 70% as opposed to the consignment stores, but the sale only lasts for 2-3 days and you tag your own stuff? Is it worth the effort to make the extra 20%?
Has anyone shopped at the consignment sales?

A lot of churches in my area do this to raise money for outreach services. I haven't been to one yet, but a good friend of mine is really involved in it and says that they get great stuff and everybody makes a ton of money.

Think of it as participating in a giant garage sale, where you don't have to sit there the whole time.

Oh I LOVE consignment sales! I shop them and sell at them. They are better than taking your stuff to a consignment shop because you make a higher percentage, and it all sells in one weekend, not just a piece here and a piece there. It is definately worth tagging youself for all of the extra money you make, PLUS most allow sellers to shop first before the sale is open to the public. Ask about volunteering to help. Helpers at my church's consignment sale are allowed to set things aside to purchase as they are brought in!

As for shopping, again, I prefer consignment sales. Find those that only allow desirable brands (if that's an issue to you) or at least ones that do not accept stained or worn items (most do not). I am super-picky with my children's clothing, and have found awesome deals on like-new Gymboree, Greggy Girl, Kelly's Kids and other favorite brands.

Yard sales garage sales best... that's why owners of second hand/consignment shops 'hit' them first thing in the morning(and arrive prior to time stated) to score the best deals!

And you know it's not junk(usually) as it has survived the first owners!

that is how i got all my cloth diapers and rubber pants, baby suits and dress shoes for them when in toddler sizes. when you got good stuff that is still new-ish and you need a bigger size, again, already, cant they just grow all at once, then you are the right seller for the short term sells events. Girl clothes tend to do better in full time resale shops and they buy them from you with cash or store credit. hope this helps.

i flow to backyard sales and flea markets each in certain situations, plenty even as i became youthful, almost continuously my mom buys stuff, i love flea markets even with the undeniable fact that reason they have some unique things you cant purchase from shops. we usually seem for stuff for our living house like reflects and stuff, or cute jewlery. i dont study about the great cost reason i usually purely tag alongside with my mom.

nothing wrong with 2nd hand clothing, beside if you spend $$$$ on new designer clothes(or name brand) for the kids the will just out grown them or tear them up before their time.. so go with the second hand stuff some of it is as good as new anyway...
