No, not at all---As Christians, we need to pray for God's spirit to sustain us each day. Jesus gave us the model prayer as an example of how to talk to God at Matthew 6:9-13.
Jesus himself prayed to God for help when undergoing the trials leading up to his death. He was a perfect man and still felt the need to talk to his Father in heaven, so how much more so do we need God's help as imperfect humans.

We talk to God through prayer. When you talk to your friends and family, do you talk about yourself? Do you ever ask for help from anyone? Why would you not ask God? God wants us to go to him for all things...big or small. I pray for myself all the time. I seek patience, wisdom, etc. I pray for others all the time also. I think the best solution is writing down a prayer list. Even if someone isn't hurt or confused they need prayer, right? Why wait? So, get a list. Pray every night or morning or both for people on your list. Then pray for you. I mean you don't want to be prideful in the face of God and not pray for yourself. Who is in charge anyway, you or him. :) :) I struggled with this too. You are NOT selfish. If you ignore your spiritual needs you are no good to anyone. You need victory also.

I pray when I am scared, lonely, or really want something to work out..I don't think this is selfish..I think that God hears us no matter what or who we pray for..I think that is healthy to pray and believe that God cares about everyone of us.

No, that is not selfish, that is just human nature. Most people pray like that.

In all things give thanks, for this pleases God. You need to get right before God yourself first before you can help others. Thank God for all the things He has done. Give praise to Him. Ask him to forgive you where ever you may have sinned. Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you. Those cares could be anything about you or others. Trust in Him to take care of those cares. God cares for you. You are very special. You need to give Him your cares.

Sometimes it is necessary to examine ourselves & receive physical, emotional or spiritual healing. Especially if there is a root of unforgiveness any where. Remember, Jesus forgave us all our sins. You should pray for others when you are led to do so. Pray to God in Spirit & Truth & while also forgiving & forgetting hurts, others have done to you.
