Remedies for Burns
After a burn, the very first thing that you should do is to reduce the temperature of the burnt area. Put lots of chilled water or dip that body part into chilled water for 15 to 30 minutes.
Apply honey to the wound once you have washed the wound properly. It will prevent infection and will heal the wound.
Papaya contains enzymes that help to remove dead cells from the wound.
Aloe Vera is good for treating burns. Cut some fresh aloe Vera leaves and put it on the burnt area.Once the wound starts healing, break a capsule of vitamin E and pour the liquid on it. This will prevent scarring.
Applying lavender oil is also found to be effective for burns.
Diet for Burns
Diet plays a very important role in the healing process. To speed up the recovery, burns patients must consume a high protein and calorie diet. Skin burn causes a loss of substantial percentage of micronutrients, such as copper, selenium, and zinc. This slows the healing process and also increases the risk of infection.
Some of the vitamins important for the recovery are Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Glutamine, Arginine, copper, zinc, Selenium etc.
Suggestions for Burns
Once the preliminary treatment for the burn is done, don’t get careless. Take your medicines on time and do not keep the wound open.

I am a first aid instructor. The only good thing for a burn is cold running water. When transporting the patient to a hospital, depending on the severity and how much of the body is burned, cover the person with a wet sheet or something smaller depending on the burn, because you did not specify and transport to hospital. Never put any other ointment or creams on a burn. At the hospital, invariably they have to scrub that burn to get the dead skin off and if there is any other chemical on there, not a good idea for the poor person who has to endure a scrub. Be more specific though. Good grief Killer Chick, vaseline is the worst thing you can do for a burn. Nothing can breathe with vaseline on

It depends what kind of burn is it.
For first degree burns, immerse the burned area in cold water or apply a wet, cold cloth to reduce the pain. Apply cold until the part is pain free both in and out of the water. Cold stops the burns progression in deeper tissue.
2 Give ibuprofen to relieve pain and inflammation. For children give acetaminophen.
3 have the victim drink as much water as possible without becoming nauseous.
4 After the burn has cooled, apply aloe vera, or skin moisturizer.
5 Keep burned arm or leg raised to reduce swelling.
For second degree burns, repeat steps 1 to 5, cover the wound with a dry, non sticking sterile dressing or clean cloth and seek medical attention as they cover more than 20% according to the rule of 9's.
For third degree burns: Its not necessary to apply cold since pain is absent.
Cover the burn with a dry non sticking sterile cloth.
Treat the victim for shock by elevating the legs and keeping the victim warm with a clean sheet or blanket.
Seek medical attention immediately.
======================================
Burn Aftercare:
Wash hands well before changing any dressing.
leave unbroken blisters intact.
watch for signs of infection
Keep the area clean and dry as possible
Elevate the burned area.
Give pain medication if necessary.
