It isn't exactly junkfood. But it is good, when you can get it. Though not all brands are generally *good to eat. Some look palatable, but are pretty nasty once you open the package. The worst is the reconstituted ones.

uhmmm,... the question was Specifically for *Brands, lets not go to small batches from Deli's and Specialty shops, & lets not go there - "home made". You can never make enough and it can get messy. Besides my cat knows how to open the machine to dry the stuff (yeh he loves the stuff as much as I do) I can't make it if I can't trust my own cat to "not touch" until its ready.

Pemmican. By far the best jerky I've ever had ... with the exception of my homemade jerky.

I like Oberto Turkey Jerky or Beef Jerky.

All the other major brands are over dry and brittle. Jack Links especially.

Jerky is a lot like coffee or beer; there are so many varieties to chose from. Also good coffee or beer on the west coast is different from good coffee on the east coast. My job is to find these products and offer them to you. Although we are not a "major brand", I encourage you to take a look at what we have to offer. Our Gold Rush products are juicy and tender with good flavor, Toxic Tommy's is tender and drier with full flavor, while JV jerky is like light smoked seasoned steak!!! They are all sooo good but depend upon your personal preference.

Walmart sells a brand that is think is called Backcountry. It is pretty cheap and it tastes good with a good texture. It's about $7 per pound which is a good price.

Oberto is a great choice, they have a good texture, the slighty juicy not brittle. I like the black peppered variety myself. Also very economical for the price per ounce.
