There is a beautiful Siamese Cat that hangs around Our neighborhood. He has blue eyes. So I call Him Blue. He comes to eat the cat food we leave on the front porch for Our Cat. It is extremly hot here, and He had appeared to have lost weight. I was gone for almost two weeks, but Family Members still fed the Cats. When I saw Him for the first time, last night, His sides were huge. Almost like You would see on a goat. So maybe He is being fed really well, or something is wrong. Any ideas? Honest, loving, helpful ideas, Please...............He seemed to be slower, and had difficulty jumping from the porch. Thank You........

Yes I wondered about worms. The fact that He went from very thin, to very big scared Me. I know that a hair ball can lead to a blockage, but I have never seen it happen, through many cats. It just happened so quickly. He will barely let Me touch the top of His head, way out of reach of catching Him.

We always leave fresh, clean, cool water out for them.
I found My cat book. Roundworms look like the place to start.
I do not think that catching Him is an option, but I will try.

He seems good except for the bloated stomach. The discharge was clear, but is no longer. If You go to the website Catlady provided, (the first one) first page for cats available, Clark looks just like Blue. He will stick a tiny bit of His body out from under the bed so I can pet Him, when He feels like it. Thank You All........except one.......

If he is still dehydrated after eating, then you should get him to a vet, as he likely needs IV fluids to regain hydration. Starved cats often cannot absorb nutrients properly and may need supportive care.
You don't say what color the eye discharge is but if it is NOT clear and not brown, then the cat likely needs antibiotics and eye drops - that you can ALSO get at the vet.
Good job catching him! He might be crying out of fear but he will be better off. Give him time to figure that out while you keep him inside.

There is something "wrong" with this cat.
My first guess would be that HE is a SHE - are you absolutely positive it's a male????
But others have offered you a variety of answers, all of which are also possibilities: malnourished, tumor, blockage, kidney problems, severe worms, poisons.
The only way you are really going to help this kitty is to get him to a vet. If he has an owner tell him/her how concerned you are and why! Followup to make sure they take the cat to the vet and find out the diagnosis. Otherwise, take the cat in yourself (and KEEP him in) and take him to the vet. The "cheap" alternative is to at least report the owner to the ASPCA.
If the ASPCA gets ahold of this cat, it will probably be euthanized.
If you can't find a *responsible* owner, I would take him in, get him to the vet immediately, and bear the expense myself. He needs your help.
One other thing - outdoor cats only live a few years because of all the dangers & disease outside. Indoor cats usually live 15-20 years. Please bring your own cat in too.
Hoping you will be the new and responsible owner of Blue...

Could be it has Worms, all that food is feeding the worm(s) not the cat.
OR
It has a bowel blockage so cannot empty it's stomach.
OR
It actually IS getting fat through overeating (unusual in that cats normally only eat what they need, unlike dogs that will eat everything offered).
There is only one way of getting to the truth - get it checked by a vet.

First, if it is a female cat, odds are she's pregnant, but if not you might check for worms. If you want to avoid a vet bill try an over the counter wormer or call the vet and see if they can give you something without a vet visit.

If it were me, the only answer would be to scoop him or her :) up and take him to the vet immediately. If it's a she and she's pregnant, then you have the answwer, but if he's male, he could be bloated due to an illness or parasites or who knows what. Either way I would have this cat checked out and quick, for his or her health and your peace of mind. Oh.. could he/she be dehydrated maybe.

I'm really sorry to say this, but he could be pretty sick. The sudden weight loss could be from kidney problems, which might explain the sudden weight gain, too. If his kidneys are struggling to process food, he'll lose weight quite suddenly. And if they've failed, he'll suddenly get very bloated and weak. Are his eyes glazed? His fur bedraggled?
You might want to find his owner or take him to the vet yourself.
I hope there's nothing seriously wrong. It sounds like you're very fond of him. Good luck!

I doubt a cat would get that fat in 2 weeks, you should see if you can somehow take him to the vet. He might have a digestive issue, or it might be from malnurishment, or he might have a tumor, or some kind of swelling from something. I highly recommend taking him to the vet!!

Sounds like Blue is really having physical problems. You can get a human trap for him and then take him to a vet for examination.
I hope you can help him. I miss my blue-eyes Spookie so much.

Are your "he" could be a "she" isn't pregnant cause your description is exactly the description I would give for my cat when she was preganant. Cats sides get bigger when they get pregnant, and since this cat is a street cat, she could have mated with with another street cat and be pregnant. Thats what happened to mine. They are only pregnant for 2 months so be on the look out if "he" is a "she".

It probably ate a ball. Cats are not too bright. Either that or someone got tired of this serial killer stalking the neighbourhood and killing the songbirds and left out some anti-freeze.....
HEY! If Anti-Freeze is good enough for the French to put in their wine, it's good enough for vermine...... er cats!
