If so, then isn't this sort of like enabling? If God wants us all to believe, shouldn't the atheists life be going poorly so they have no choice but to turn to God for help?

They say god helps those who help themselves and, since the atheists are never whining and praying to god to fix things for them, maybe he is actually helping them MORE than the believers!

Pretty much.

Believers suffer just as much as nonbelievers. As an atheist, I have a pretty good life. I know other atheists with pretty good lives. I know some Christians (and other theists) who are struggling with divorces, unemployment, and illnesses.

Of course, I see it on both sides. I know some successful theists and nontheists. I know some down-on-their-luck theists and nontheists.

When you look at the Christian mythology, this seems to be preferred. The struggling in life pales in comparison to the reward in the afterlife. And not just Christianity. Religions with a heavenly afterlife or reincarnation or karma generally teach that for all your suffering, your good deeds do not remain unnoticed.

Edit: I just saw this quote in another answer: "If God treated the Athiests like trash here, then he could be declaired wicked." If God maltreated the atheists on this world, he could indeed be seen as wicked. But then, he maltreats the atheists in the afterlife, so how is God not wicked?

Yes God wants us all to believe, but we still have to make that choice in the long run. God isn't a dictator. HE presents us with choices and different paths to take, hoping that we will choose the right one.

If God treated the Athiests like trash here, then he could be declaired wicked. God loves us all and wants us all to believe. The final judgment isn't until the end, you have all your life to figure out what you believe before being separated from God. We are all equal in His eyes. :)

Don't be deceived by how great things may be going for those who reject God here on earth. Our time here on earth is nothing compared to eternity.
