You don't realize it at a certain magic age. You find that alot of the advise is true when you have children and they hit certain ages or go through some of the same things you did. Or you become the same age your parents were or you get a chance to walk in someone elses shoes.

It's "advice" (noun) actually..advise is a verb, it's what people do, they advise you by giving you advice.
I think the age varies, and the amount of what we were taught and realize to be true also varies...sometimes it's way down the road before we look back and see that most (if not all) did turn out to be true, but when we were hearing it, the response was an eyeroll or laugh or "uh huh"...
I don't remember when I realized it wasn't all just bs...

Honestly, I didn't realize it was true until I became a parent. Slowly but surely I started repeating the same things to my kids my parent said to me and realized just how logical everything sounds NOW, but back then it sounded exaggerated and silly. Until you are responsible for another innocent life in the world you don't realize just how big and scary the world really is. I look back and wish I listened more when I was younger.
