Alot of people are scared of things they don't understand. Perhaps that is the reason.

Afraid = Fear of the unknown
Have you ever been tricked by a ghost or met a ghost? Do you feel eerie during the night? What are you afraid of ? Are you afraid that the ghost will kill you?
If you do not intervene with the spiritual world, I dont think there is any reason for you to be afraid of ghosts. There are ghost everywhere, eve in todays world, roaming around. There are holy ghost, devils, angels, spirits - all known as ghost as they are all "spiritual" creatures.
There is nothing to be afraid of, because one day, you and me will depart from our body. Our spirit - we will be our own ghost. So worry not and be afraid not of ghosts...

A 'GHOST' is actually a psychological disorder where you are 'HAUNTED' by something in your past. It could be ANYTHING!!!!! locked away that your subconscious doesn't want to deal with. If your mind tries to deal with this problem you will 'SEE' something eerie in your mind to turn that thought off. A 'GHOST' is also a flash of light experienced from the corner of your eye when your mind is tired, this gives you the impression that something just went by you, your mind then takes over and tells you a scary story so you will cover your head with the blankets and let it relax.

why we will afraid of ghost? you mean are? i think its cause something we dont completely understand, and cant scientifically prove anything about them. and many stories out there where ghosts physically hurt someone. i think it pretty much brain washed everyone into thinking ghosts are here to physically harm us. (perhaps its just a fear of the unkonw. i dont like dark water cause i cant see the bottom of it =\ or a kids fear of the dark because they dont know what could be there. same idea i think)
