I painted my room in a blood-red color (http://rlhome.polo.com/rlhome/products/paint/items.asp?haid=83&f=lp&start=0) and my room has an integrated bookshelve.
My question is: what color should I paint the trim around the bookshelve? White or Black?
Red and white looks lively and festive, but red and black looks serious and elegant. I would rather go for the black/red combo.
What combo would you choose?

I have a red wall in my bedroom with white trim. The other walls are dark taupe. I chose white trim and doors, etc. because there is white trim in all the other rooms including the hallway.
Bottom line is if you like the red and black, go for it!

If your room is painted red, I would chose most other accessories in black and white. You have enough red in the room. You can always add flowers or candles or baskets (things that can be changed or removed) but for more paint, I'd stick to the black and white.

i would tend to go black , the black will anchor the bookshelf and make it your main focal point,a a big factor is the type and color fo the flooring , as you dont want it to compete with the wall, otherwise the room will look confusing and unorganized.choose your linens wisely and you will have a great looking room. a painting and decorating contractor

hiya! i in my opinion love the white with black trim... however the black with the white trim is likewise beautiful! and because summer season is only around the nook, i think of you're able to get the white with the black trim!... great beautiful! =] wish I helped!

I would go white. Red is such a passionate color that can be dark and overwhelming. Adding another dark color could make it feel too dark. White can still be elegant. It all delpends on how you accessorize.

i would definetly do black. the color your talking about is kindof a darker color and the black would bring it out a little. the white would be a little too bright for your room. but thats just my opinion.

black/red sure would be more dramatic and I think if you are bold enough to paint with red go with the black.
