Because some Christians feel they have a God given right to have authority over everything. I did say SOME Christians please note. So many of them are so over the top with their proselytizing and judging that it seems they think they are like Moses, all fiery eyes and full of the spirit, throwing the tablets at our feet. Sometimes it makes me angry and disgusted, but most of the time I just feel pity and amusement at their self-imposed "holiness."

Before answering this I read all the other answers. Many were an honest attempt to convey their opinion or thought on this matter. Then there was the rest...Christian, Pagan, a Baptist or two, who seem to feel the need to be crass and disrespectful. Narrow vision narrow view and narrow mind. I believe this is the same type of mentality that causes conflict not peace. Are these the type of people who would rather start wars than a peaceful way to coexist with each other?
This forum, this site is open to all....make your comment...ask your question...it up to you how you filter what you read...or if you wish to take to heart some of the negative responses....I don't, I just consider the source and go to the next...
Aho,

good question. many christians feel as if they have authority over everything. actually, zealots of all religions (as well as atheists), do. people tend to feel an exaggarated sense of power where they have none, they feel as though they are the absolute authority when it comes to the Undenyable Truth, whatever that may be from their pov. this, of course, is untrue. no one can know the truth; people can only do what they feel is best, or often, do nothing for lack of interest and care.

This is what happens when one has the delusion that their cult is the "one true" religion. They are brainwashed into believing that they must "save" all others. That they're doing you a favor cramming they're dogma down your throat. Its a matter of control. Their church controls them and in return they seek to control others. Little do they know that the Christain cult is dying, and they will not be a majority( atleast in the U.S., they only make up 32.8% of the world population) soon. Islam and Paganism are growing expeditiously, and will past Christianity within one generation. So Xians, please try to keep your theolo-babble down to a light roar.

hello:}
it is not just christians but all religions ,where like minded people feel they are right ,how they KNOW this i"ll never know .
there is no sense arguing with any of them because you actually have to have a close mind in order to be in any organized religion .
that includes klu klux klan and any sort of organised group that thinks they are rightous .
live the best you can ,do not harm others and think with your heart and why worry about the rest ?
a good heart and open mind can lead you far in life .no matter what any of the AUTHORITY figures try to tell you differently >

Some christians...not all christians think that way. They are told that it is wrong...that is just the way they were taught. My dad told me yesterday that I was going to burn and rot for enternity in hell because I am pagan.
But his religion will kill 9 million and 85% were women and children in the name of their god.
What works for you; works for you. Might not work for me, but what works for me works for me. Personally I can't be atheists, but I will talk to an antheist so that I can learn what they believe or not.
I hope this helps.

Most middle eastern religions grant a great deal of "authority" to its followers. You are right, of course, but dont expect them to be pleased with it.

Go ahead! Express your views, just don't expect us to believe what you say. Christians aren't in control of the site, you just feel threatened cause we're in the majority. Maybe since you can't beat us you should join us. Jesus after all is the way the truth and the life.

I am not a Christian.
I do not have a problem with any religion, belief or non-belief-As long as I am not expected to join it.
This is an English speaking site.
Christians will outnumber all of the other religions practised, and "non believers" combined.
As they outnumber the rest of us it stands to reason that they will have a bigger shout.
