Do it. I sit on 2 private med school admissions boards in a large city. In both schools if I see an applicant over 30 years old and has at least a bachelors-he or she gets an interview regardless. When I first started on the same boards, people over 30 were shunned. Unfortunately he went to other countries to get thier MD and are some of the best physicians I have ever seen. EVER. When we implemented our "we want people with life experience" in our admissions critera, the rate of drop out, either by us or thier own reasons dropped so signifigantly that many, many schools are adopting hat program-and it is all for the same reason one of the above posters stated. Crappy hours and an entry level position probably makes no difference to you. THAT is what we want. People who want to be docs for the genuine purpose of living the life, and not kids who want to impress mommy and daddy (and it almost invariably boils down to this). Do yourself a favor and apply. Sit for the April MCAT. Apply, apply apply.
And you have my best wishes. I hope I see you on the wards in a few years.

It's perfectly possible. Speak with an admissions officer to determine what extra courses or refresher courses you will need.
My family physician growing up entered medicine about that age after a successful career as a chemist. He practiced medicine another 15 years or so, then got a degree in Public Health and did that the rest of his life.

In order to compete you'd probably have to take several undergrad refresher courses (not that you may need them, but certain colleges may reject your transcripts as too old). Study up on the MCAT. Beyond that I don't think there's more you could do. I hate to say it but I'm sure there would be an age bias in reviewing your application.

You're never too old. And if you have a MS degree that is very helpful. Go in to most hopsitals, you will see doctors in their 50's and 60's, age is not a factor as long as you're still coherant.

you want a 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days Bachelor degree. (you've a more desirable helpful probability at an US med college in case you do your Bachelor degree in the U. S.) A Bachelor degree with pre med preparation and take the MCAT exam. you would possibly want to need to have staggering grades all 4 years of school. Then prepare to clinical colleges. very few US clinical colleges settle for international scholars, and those that do, settle for very few of them. Plan on $40,000 in holding with 3 hundred and sixty 5 days for preparation. For a Bachelor degree, you want to take the SAT or ACT and the TOEFL-if English isn't your first language- to coach. Undergrad college can fee $30,000 to $50,000 in holding with 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. US universities furnish little or no economic help or scholarships to international scholars. Scholarships basically cover a fragment of the expenditures. do no longer anticipate getting a scholarship skill each aspect is paid for. very few cover the fee of educating. Even for US scholars. Calfornia State colleges settle for few international scholars and their preparation for them is sky extreme. UCLA preparation on my own is $50,000 for out of state and international scholars. I pretty advise searching at colleges in different states

You'll have at least 6 years of school ahead of you. Then you get to be entry level and get crappy hours in emergency.
But if you will be happy, it's never too late.
