Given its large population and large geographic size, responding quickly and effectively to a disaster in India would be a challenge.
But I do believe there are significant efforts to prepare for disaster going on between India, the U.S., and other nations right now. And an ounce of that is better than a pound of response, to paraphrase the old saying.

Definitely. The only problem is providence. If you seen the various disasters that Indians have faced in the last decade the did a decent job. Even the US could not deal satisfactorily with the aftermath of cyclone RITA. Making efforts is in the hands of that nation but 100% success is destiny and next to impossible that's when providence comes into play. Indians lack resources but not the will or the attitude and that's important.

Sadly my friend, India is perhaps the most corrupted country in the whole world. Perhaps they say, "It happens only in India" is very very true for a country like India. I mean where else can you find a country where people do the opposite of what they say and write.
India is a country where kids of 12 and above can drive a car and ride a bike/scooter WITHOUT A LISENCE!!!!!!??????!!!!!!!!!
It is a secualr country, NO OFFENCE TO THAT, but like I have written earlier, though being a secular country, every cast, creed, religion are still continuing with their meaningless CRUSADES.
For example, the unresonable hatred of the people of Orissa for the the land and people of West Bengal. The Sikh student in Rajasthan who cut off his lock of hair and the SC and ST problems which haunted the country for nearly three months.
Please don't feel bad, but this is what really India is.

No I don't think so. We live in the most powerful and rich country in the world and the victims of Katrina are still not cared for. I don't think India could aid in a large scale resoration- but I could be wrong.
