I hear about a lot of black women having to oil their scalp or it'll get dry and flacky. do white women (or women who dont have naturally nappy hair) oil their scalp?

It depends on if they have dry skin or not.

I use olive oil on my hair and scalp once a month and wash it out. Otherwise my scalp gets very itchy. But most people that I know of do not.

My hair is blonde, dry and very frizzy. I've been pouring melted coconut oil into my hair and scalp for several years. I recently discovered Lustre's pink oil moisturiser which is brilliant. I first bought it online until I found a local supplier. What I'd like to know is why places like Boots, Superdrug, Tesco even, don't supply products like this for Afro hair - it seems to me that customers of all colours should be catered for.

Well, I get dandruff, but I've never had to use any oil (except the one time I tried a hot oil treatment [which didn't come out well at all...]). Just a good shampooing takes care of the dandruff, and it's all normal again. But then again, the only abuse my hair gets is a good brushing, and a dyeing every now and then.

Depends, its true that black people have different hair and so differnt hair needs, but when it comes to dry flaky scalps its universal. Some people do, some people don't. It really not race-based. It depends on ur skin type and ur diet, health, sometimes even genetics. Hope this answers ur question.

I do not do that with my scalp, but I leave oil on my hair to treat the damage or dryness.

quick fact: black women have naturally CURLY hair, not NAPPY hair.

to answer your question - no, those without black women hair actually have to wash their hair to keep it free from oils. how white women and black women treat their hair is the exact opposite of each other.

No. My friend used oil on my hair when she was braiding it & it took like 6-7 GOOD shampoos to get it out. I guess my hair has enough of it's own oils.
