In most US cities, dressing like this would certainly make you stand out in a crowd. But in the SF bay area you would just be same o same o. Unless you weigh over 200 lbs and are over 6 ft. tall, you'd better not wear your leather outfit into a biker or cowboy bar. Just a suggestion!

Be yourself. Whatever you feel comfortable in and what you think looks cool is what you should wear... don't try to impress anyone by dressing the way they might want you too... you'll only regret it later and come off as a fool.
If you have a steady girlfriend and she makes some suggestions, then yeah listen to her, but still be yourself.
Peace

cooler as in less warm, - no leather is uncomfortable in hot weather - it's sticky and makes you sweaty.
Cooler as in stylish... doubtful. But does it matter? Wear what you want. I am not sure leiderhosen are in style right now.

Ok, please don't take this as a put down. I don't know you and would not try to imply anything towards you. Me and my friends would all see someone dressed like that and think, "He's gay." I to girls I know, this would not be cool in any way. The guys I know would say the same thing. Just an answer, please don't be offended.
