That's weird. They always examine my eyes first and do the test then do the dialation.

This is not very common, usually they will do a quick check before dilation if they didn't do it with an automated machine. The drops that they can give you aren't just for looking at the back of the eye if they are doing a dilation afterwards. They are also relaxing your focusing (aka accommodation) so you aren't able to give false readings. With this they are able to get their own readings objectively also without you unknowingly focusing too hard. Dont get worried. They are not doing anything wrong, just getting the info in a different way

They should measure your prescription before the dilation, otherwise the results will be false, and you'll end up with glasses you can't wear!
However, if you went in specifically to have your retina examined, they're not going to measure your Rx, simply dilate your eyes.

I in basic terms have been given an eye fixed try, with those outcomes: top eye: 0 sph, -.5 cyl, Left eye: 0 sph, -.5 cyl. The optician reported i did no longer unavoidably % glasses, yet i ended up getting them besides because of the fact my eyes have been getting drained on the instant. So i think of that, although trouble-free your prescription may well be, in case you experience like they'll help, you will possibly desire to get them. although, it must be the case which you in basic terms don't experience you % them. this is as much as you! I placed on mine for television, pc, analyzing and making use of (besides the certainty that i do no longer think of you will possibly desire to placed on yours for analyzing - uncertain) and so some distance this is been effective. I nonetheless doubt no count if or no longer I might desire to are starting to be them, yet in the top they're helping me have fewer issues and my eyes get much less drained, so i think of it became into worth it. truthfully, i do no longer think of you may bypass incorrect, in spite of you agree on.

Normally, it's the little examine with the puff of air and all that stuff and THEN they'll dilate my eyes. GOD!!! I f*cking hate it when they have to dilate them though. I can't drive cuz I can't see and it hurts so much when you go out in the sunlight because your eyes can't adjust.... UGH...

They sometimes will do this to reveal hyperopia (farsightedness). Patients can have latent hyperopia that otherwise cannot be revealed without dilation. This latent hyperopia can cause vision problems without being found and Rxed.
