Hope some of these can help you:

Use a good adult conditioner and comb with a wide tooth comb while the conditioner is still in her hair.

Spray a detangler leave-in conditioner after her bath

Let her pick a pretty hair brush and some hair ties. The Dollar store has these cheap so you could get her a bunch.

Let her brush your hair first, then tell her it's your turn to brush now.

Get her a doll with hair - like a Barbie - and you can show her how to brush its hair.

My niece had the same problem. She lived with me and my husband for about 6 months at about that same age - her parents were going through a divorce. I used all these together and it worked wonders. We also sang:

"This is the way we brush our hair, brush our hair, brush our hair. This is the way we brush our hair early in the morning."

Good luck to you.

Well if she's 18 months she's still small enough to lay across your lap. Your best bet is to wait while she's napping and lay her across your lap on her stomach and brush her hair then. That's how we use to do babies hair in my family. If you are good with the brush and comb it can be fixed while the child is moving around while she's wake too. I'm sure if you let her look in the mirror while you're doing her hair and tell her how pretty it will look once it's done, she'll probably want to get it brushed more often. Or give her a doll and let her do her doll's hair while you're doing her's. Try a detangler on her frizzy tresses. You can also work with water in her hair too. Spritz it with a lil water (don't over wet) in a lil spray bottle; it helps with combing it out and finishing the style.

My daughter's hair is the same way. I use the suave kids shampoo that has detangler in it. It is tear free, and much better than the baby shampoo. That takes care of most of it. What I do with the rest is I will put my hand around her hair right by the base of her neck while I am brushing the bottom. It helps to make it so the hairs aren't getting pulled as hard.

Suave makes a 2-n-1 shampoo & conditioner that helps with tangles. Also make sure you start at the ends of her hair and work the tangles out as you go up. Start out using a pick or a wide toothed comb to get all the tangles out then you can use a brush or narrow toothed come once it is all smoothed out. Good luck.

My little girl has natural curly hair and the hairbrush is a task and a half. Make sure you have some detangler or kids conditioner and then make a game out of brushing her hair. Let her fix your hair. My daughter loves to brush my hair and go "all pretty" after she's made the biggest mess possible of it. Worst comes to worst bribary works sometimes.

I had the same problem with my son, he wouldn't let me touch his hair because it hurt. I started using a good conditioner (like Pantene) and a detangler and worked very gently while he was watching his favorite tv show (to distract him) and I kept telling him the more we brush it the less it will hurt next time and eventually he calmed down and now has tangle free hair which he combs himself. (I did threaten him once with a buzzcut and that helped too, he didn't want to be bald)

Need to invest in some really good conditioner and detangle spray on for after baths. Get her her own brush and let her brush your hair first, then brush hers. Or have her help you brush her hair. If you can keep the hair well conditioned, spray it down with detangler (infusium is fantastic!) and comb it out when wet, she should have more manageable hair.

Try to make it fun. Give her a brush too and let her brush your hair and her own. Show her it won't hurt by brushing your hair. Get some detangler spray and wet her hair throughly first with it--yours too to show her it won't hurt. If it just doesn't work then wait til she's asleep and gently detangle her hair and braid it or ponytail it.

get some detangler. also try getting a detangler shampoo so when she gets out of the tub it is easier to brush her hair. i had the same problem with my 20 month old. give her a brush and before you brush her hair let her brush yours so she knows that it is okay and wont hurt. just use lots and lots of detangler. i did it and my daughter is cured. every time i brush her hair she brushes mine. just give it a try.

I have the same problem with my daughters hair. Have her hug you while you are brushing and have her squeeze harder when it hurts. Also try using a detangler comb. The best product I have found is new by Herbal Essence-hydrating with coconut milk-
good luck
