Keep it clean but moisturized. I rinse and condition my hair daily. I use a leave in conditioner called Cantu which is awesome and inexpensive (found in Walmart). I grease my scalp about once a week. I use very oily shampoos too, like Creme of Nature or a herbal detangling shampoo and I don't wash it very often (once every 8 or 9 days), I find that rinsing it is more than enough to keep it clean without drying it out. I comb my hair out at least once a week and this can be the worse part of a natural. ONLY COMB WHEN WET AND BEST TIME IS IN THE SHOWER WITH THE WATER HELPING U. I have a cousin, who never combs her hair. She let's it grow and it starts to loc on the end and she goes to the barber and get it cut back. But my goal is to have it long.
When i first started the transition, I wore braids until my hair was long enough for an afro. Then I wore an afro for months until it got to long to stand. Now I wear an afro puff. During all of this time I've worn braids intermently. I'm getting it two-strand twisted this week and will wear that for a while. Then who knows, it's creativee and free form and aways something new, I love it.

Natural hair is the most versaltile. There are so many thingys you could do while it grows. You could wear it in twists. You can waer it in twist -outs which gives waby look. Braids, braid outs, arfo's etc all these style look brilliant and are protective which means your hair can grow happily, with minimal disturbance in these styles.
In terms of actual growth, concentrate on your diet, is it balanced and healthy, are you intaking the correct vitmains etc. Also look at the product you are putting on your hair. Essential oils are the best.
But for ulitmate advice for natural hair is www.nappturality.com >>>>thats site is FANTASTIC!

Avoid using heat styling tools, moisturize your hair properly, and time. Also avoid fabrics on the ends of the hair that wick away moisture.

Stimulate your scalp as often as possible, it helps it to grow. When you are just sitting around scratch or rub your scalp. Also brush it a few times a day
