Yup. Hell, even the Rolling Stones realized that one. The devil just provides the temptation. It is man that makes the decision to "sin."
"In the Hebrew Bible, Satan plays only a minor role as an ambiguous figure in the heavenly court. In Job his function is described as a kind of public prosecutor for God, suggesting his role as adversary may have been in terms of jurisprudence." - Yahoo education.
Not even Satanism deserves the stigma associated w/ it. I did a little research a few years ago & found one site that described it as a celebration of self. Being human is something to enjoy. That is a very eastern idea. Buddhism is founded on the idea that if it feels good it cannot be all bad. Life is one that should be lived in moderation. NOT exclusion. This makes sense, & is the idea of Satanism.
The bad rap Satan has gotten is probably unneeded. Probably caused by the churches need to control/scare the uneducated masses. A crude way of enforcing law.
The questions then become:
Is the church the real Satan? Molding/changing & totally forgetting the original teachings? Up to you.
Are we not ALL sons of God? I think we are. Life is a huge miracle.
Am I any less divine than Jesus? I think not. Jesus was human! The church CHOSE to make him divine.

I once started to write a story about a fallen angel, servant of satan, who was tormenting some poor soul while tormented himself about his (the angel/demon's certain future in hell). The human suddenly was permitted to see and speak to the demon. There was a movie that came out which nixed the need, Confessions of a vampire. In the end, the devil can see what he is doing to us silly, stupid souls, while we but guess at it when we bother to try. When the day of judgement comes, as in Revelation 20, there will be no tears shed on my part because of all the lies and devious tricks that have been played upon humanity with open knowledge of our eternal ends.
With each of us, it is like the very first human sins. "Has God said?", he hisses. Then we spill out our understanding, and maybe add a bit. But then he hisses again, "That's not true" and proceeds to paint a pretty picture that is enough truth to appeal and enough lie to snag us." Then he dangles that unwitting fish he just snagged before God and sneers, "You want this sniveling, dirty sinner?" I would want to urge God to fan the flames of hell all the hotter, except for the possibility I might get fried alongside him as one of those sniveling, dirty sinners who've failed even after God has warned me repeatedly not to take the devil's bait.

no, the devil is here to take mankind with him to hell. He is jealous of man, he hates mankind, he will do whatever he can to get people to be miserable with him.. The devil is a fallen angel from heaven he knew what it was like to be with God and he wanted to be God, He is never allowed to return to heaven.. so he will do anything to get people to lie, steal, cheat, fornicate, and many other sins.. Because he knows what God requires to get into heaven.. He is the root of every evil... So no i wouldn't sympathy for him.. Because he didn't care when I was running around doing all the things he wanted me to do... example's above.. God love's you no matter what... some think that God isn't tru but when you experience him for yourself nothing can change that thought or existence..

Sure. This is a character who managed to show god that even the angels - who were reputedly created without the capacity for free will - could make choices, and stand strongly behind their own decisions. He gave the same capacity to human beings. In return he's been banished, punished, villified and held falsely responsible for all of Mankind's "sin". I'd buy the guy a (demon) drink and listen to his problems. Who'd be callous enough to do less?

I agree there is no devil...at least I have seen evidence for one.
And just remember if the Devil does exist I have only heard one side of the story-the Bible. If the Devil did exist I like to hear his side of the story.

We run into the devil all the time, and a lot of us do have sympathy, lest we be entertaining angels unawares - but he chose his path and he's receiving his just reward -just like the rest of have done or will do.

In the end everyone gets what they deserve, even the devil and it's definitely not sympathy.

An apology for the Devil: Remember, you've heard only one side of the story. God has written all the books.

Well, Paradise Lost by Milton, looked at Lucifer's plight and it actually had me sympathizing with his plight. Although, when it was all over, he ended up seeming whiny, childish, arrogant and spiteful and ridiculously jealous. So, no I don't have sympathy for him.

Sure because he does not know the meaning of the Lord...He messed up and was cast down and if he only repented he could sit back in Heaven with God. But he is a stubborn old fool...
