I was watching a new release movie last night and the FBI warning in the beginnig was in Enlish and THEN IN SPANISH. I was so PI$$ED OFF. What does the movie industry think? The Mexicans come over here illegally and then they are going to obey the FBI warnings? I'm 26 and was born in the US. Yeah, I know I'm lucky but the Mexicans are going to change our society for the worst if we don't do something NOW.

If there are 2 products that are the same and one has directions in Spanish and one doesn't, I WILL NOT buy the one that has Spanish on it even if it is cheaper. How about you?

PS I am a right wing consevitive RUSH baby!

Did you mean to say you're a conservative BUSH baby (as in Pres. Bush) or a RUSH baby (as in Rush Limbaugh)? Just wondered if that was a typo....

It annoys me about the different languages on instructions now days, but they aren't just in Spanish. They're often also in French, German or other languages. It's not so much catering to a different nationality in OUR country, but because the product is sold in MANY different countries where other national languages are spoken. If the same product is purchased in Mexico or France, etc. the instructions are the same and THEY may get annoyed at having to have them in ENGLISH! LOL

It's all relative.

PS...I don't like illegal immigration either and wish our gov. would get a grip on it! But this 'problem' with instructions isn't really so much related to that problem, not in my opinion. ;o)

This came to me in an email yesterday. It's a GREAT idea!......

Bring all our troops home from Iraq to guard the border. When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle, and some ammo and ship him to Iraq.

Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves.

I LIKE it!

This is so stupid...LOL Do you know that not only illegal Mexicans speak Spanish? Do I have to say it again - not only Mexican immigrants are coming here illegally - they come from the Caribbean, Central America, South America!! Oh! and there are Spanish speaking legals here too - even from Spain - can you believe that?! WOW! Amazing huh?

What does the movie industry think - when not even US citizens are obeying the FBI warnings?!

You rather pay more for something that is only in English - then go ahead - it's your money not mine.

If you like Chinese food - you wouldn't buy it because it comes in little containers that contain the Chinese language? Or Italian or anything that has any other language on it?

A lot of Spanish people speak English and very well. Only because they learned a new language doesn't mean they should drop their own! It's good to be bilingual!

When you buy appliances, instructions come in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Italian etc. It's part of the extra paperwork you have to throw away, but it's normal. Products aren't made just for the American market, they are sold worldwide, so it makes business sense.

Spanish is not some obscure dialect used only by illegals- it's the primary language of many countries, including Spain, Mexico, much of South America and oh, have you looked at Florida & California lately? It's no different than Europeans getting pissed off because movies shown in their countries have too much stuff in English.

Since the families of everyone here other than Native Americans (i.e. Indians) immigrated from somewhere else, what's your point? Do you think the movie warnings should be in Cherokee or Blackfoot?

All Americans are descendents of immigrants, and that process doesn't stop, it continues year after year. American is not about ethnicity.

As the movie industry realizes that thare are huge $$$ in the Spanish-speaking market, the trend will be towards more of that, not less. It's all about the bottom line.

Congratulations! This is one of the most ridiculous questions I've seen on immigration, next to the guy who was ready to pop a blood vessel because the the number he called gave him the option of hearing the menu in Spanish. Why do you assume that if someone needs the instructions in Spanish that they are here illegally? What if the product was medication? Should a Spanish speaking person not know how take it properly? If you say yes then you and Rush deserve each other. Turn the friggin paper over and read the instructions in English. By the way. If you are so proud of being a CONSERVATIVE you might want to learn how to spell it.

OMG! I cannot believe I am actually reading this.

What is wrong with you people?! The United States was designed to be a country that accepts all nationalities. Being white and speaking English does not make you American. In fact, there is NO OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IN THE US, nor an official creed or color.

However, I do agree that many people that come to the US illegally should be reprimanded and then educated and perhaps given the opportunity to become a citizen.

I am an American person of Mexican decent and I read and speak English only. Do you all think that the only people that speak Spanish are illegal immigrants from Mexico? There are plenty of of other nationalities that speak Spanish and live here legally.

It does not bother me to see instructions written in Spanish or any other language. It only reminds me how diverse a nation we live in.

My grandmother who immigrated legally to then United States in the early 1940's loves to speak English. She felt it was necessary for her and her family to learn the language that is spoke by the majority of the people living in the country she adopted as her new home, but she insisted on never forgetting her roots and the Spanish language is part of that. She speaks both languages fluently but feels more comfortable reading things in Spanish when available. Are you saying that my grandmother does not deserve to be here and should be shipped back to Mexico?!

Where do some of you think we are? Have you not noticed that America is not all white. There is an array of color out there and I'm beginning to think a lot of you are not seeing the whole picture.

Learn about what our founding fathers hoped for America and you'll discover that this is not just a white mans land.

Get with the program people.

No, I can honestly say that does not bother me a single bit to see instructions written in spanish, french, italian etc. It does however give me a nasty personal rash to have to "push 1 for english" otherwise they will give you instructions over the phone in spanish. English should be the first default language and spanish speaking AMERICANS should have to push a number. I actually called a customer service rep. about this and bitched my head off, needless to say next time I called they had made a change and I didn't have to press a button to hear it in ENGLISH.

To our discriminating friend:
If there are even more companies labeling their products both in English and Spanish is because your AMERICAN COMPANIES see that hispanic immigrants leave great profits to them and of course, to the American economy. And as I see, you are not smart enough and don't have any knowledge on Mexican culture and just see dark side of them. C'mon buddy be smart! It doesn't matter if that has two language labels, IS THE SAME PRODUCT!

P.S. I am Italian (from Rome) and even when the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE is ITALIAN, we also learn to speak at least two more. So don't whine like a pig, you better skip the FBI warnings (if you know how to use the remote control hehe!) Good luck.

Sounds to me like you feel threatend by the mexicans. Did you know that we do not have an official language? So until we have an official language you have no argument about "pressing 2 for spanish", I dont think it is such a bad thing that they are coming over here, as long as they are doing it legally. I believe they are going to add a little culture to the states, which in my opinion is what we need anyway. Try to open your mind a little and you would be surprised how much of a happier person you would be.

Multilingual isn't so bad, I don't care how much they print in spanish because there's a lot of spanish-speakers in the country. I think it'd be really COOL if on every job application it had a warning 'en espanol' telling you that attempting to present forged documents as proof of citizenship can net you 5 years in jail...IN Mexico. But, for that to happen, we'd have to have an immigration treaty that spelled that out in black-and-white. Good luck getting that...
