If you are language-challenged, keep your problem to yourself and leave other's languages and cultures alone.

Even easier if everyone could read each other's mind.
It is neither a good thing nor bad that there are so many languages. It just is. We can no more judge the approprieteness of multiple languages than we can choose our grandparents.
If were ALWAYS judged that more than one language was bad, then we'd all be speaking some proto, pre sumeric set of grunts and squeeks.
Would you all be satisfied if we only spoke ancient Hebrew, or Egyptian, or Arabic, or Chinese? These languages were spoken long before anything recognizable as modern English.

It would be easier, but I like having many languages. Then there is always something to learn, something new to adapt to when you go to a new place. Countries should speak different languages, because diversity is a good thing.

in this country, yes it would be easier and a lot better. english is still the primary language for sure though. america would never let itself have more than one language because think of how confusing that would be if there were more. it would also hurt our identity as a nation. but around the world i dont mind different languages.

At first thought it seems nice...but the great thing about all the different languages is that the various words creates new words for new languages...for example the language of Creole is a combonation of french english and a language from Africa.
good question too!

I think that it would be easier. I also think it should be mandatory that if you are going to live in a country other than your own that you should have to learn how to speak the language of the country that you are now living in. I am not talking about just visiting another country but actually living there.

Yea, it would be easier, no doubt about that. But just think how much fun it is to learn a new language and be able to talk to other people in that language! That is one of the things I love about my second language - just talking to native speakers of it, and getting to know them.

Easier, yes. But you would lose out on so much literary and expressive richness that are inherent in so many different languages.
I think the most famous example are the 15 different words that various Eskimo/Inuit communities have for snow or snowfall.

Wouldnt help much at all. People still believe in religion in the face of facts so communication has to be a lot more than language.

this would be quite boaring. Diversity is one of the most beautiful aspects of life, and language along with culture creates a uniqueness to different people.
