hi im glad you can see why people would move away because of the nasty few that do this. i grew up with asians at my old school and they were really nice people. but the people who did these terroist attacks, all their familys and friends and neighbours all said they would have never suspected a thing as they were very nice people too with lots going for them. i just hope the muslim community could do more to try and clamp down on this sort of thing!

Actually this is a problem my brother sometimes has, as he works in London, and travels to work on the tube. He sometimes has a rucksack or maybe a briefcase with him, and before 7/7 he never really noticed it but afterwards he realised that people started to move away from him just because he had a bag and he was Asian (he doesn't have a beard or wear anything that would give his religion away), which quite surprised him.

Obviously it isn't the peoples fault who move away they are just worrying for their own safety, but not all Muslims are terrorists. This is what is portrayed in the media so this is why people react like this. In contrast to them doing this, my brother told me that he often goes up to the people and tries talking to them and when they realise how 'normal' he is they are quite surprised at there own actions themselves. If you talk to Muslims and live with them it is then you realise how much you don't know about them.

You can't generalise people into the same group saying that just because 2 Muslims are loonies and decided to blow everyone up innocent people all Muslims are like that because believe me we aren't!!

Hope that helps....

Salam :) i'm a Muslim teenager residing in Canada. I placed on hijab alhamdullilah and it fairly is for the main section properly-known right here via fact that i stay in a huge city with a massive Muslim inhabitants. I do get the few ignorant comments and idiots in college however who ask stuff like "yo have been given a bomb under there hahaha". however the toughest section is being distinctive out of your pals. Being a Muslim, events, alcohol courting boys wearing revealing clothing and so on is haram, and at the same time as i do no longer prefer to try this besides, that's slightly awkward to could clarify why i do no longer do it to those that evaluate it only a factor of being a teenager and its elementary to them. Muslims residing in Muslim countries fairly have it much less difficult while it includes installation in. And with foodstuff that's slightly problematical yet I continually attempt to make sure the label if i'm unsure of the components. yet i does no longer wanna be the different faith no be counted how difficult it gets and how distinctive i think from all people else, i'm happy to be Muslim :)

As with any person how is sweating like a pig and looking very nervous, I watch them closely and if they look like they are going to do something crazy I take them out. Threats can come from anyone these days and it is up to us (society in general) to stop them. People are less likely to do something stupid if they know there is a small chance of success (either in the aftermath of an event or in the event itself).

I do some profiling when I get on a plane. If there is a nervous looking Muslim not making eye contact I'll be sitting right next to him.

When to rest of them start renouncing violence I won't distrust all of them.

How would you know that the person sitting next to you is a Muslim? Would you assume because the person looks Middle Eastern that he is a Muslim? If the person were tall, blonde, blue-eyed, clean shaven and fashionably dressed would you assume that he was NOT from the Middle East? How about red hair? How about black?

If you were sitting next to him on the aisle side, he would not be able to get up easily. You might try dialing the transit authority on your cell phone to report the person but the warning might not be taken seriously.

I would talk to the nervous person. I would be persistent to engage him in conversation. I would talk about my family, my mother anything to get him to focus on me as a human being. Muslims are not supposed to kill "innocent" (defined according to Islam) people. They do have a conscious. What you might try to do is get him to doubt whether he will be killing "innocent" people. Then he may be off guard.

If all else failed, I might try to wrangle him to the ground. Explosives can detonate with sufficient force and depending on what explosives (if any) he might be carrying, you should use caution when trying to remove his backpack.

You might consider prevention. Is there legislation pending in your area to change immigration laws? Is there legislation to required identity cards? Etc. Be involved.

well, in this case i would jump off the bus. better be injured than dead actually, and call the po-po! as i don't like to take the train...
but actually, someone can be nervous and sweat like a pig because of any other reason, so... and it doesn have to be a muslim to actually think of suicide-bombers or simply bombers. do not forget that anyone racist, anti-semitic, anti-arab... can do that...

I think I'd find someone like that a little nerve racking regardless of their race. People who obviously have something to hide make me nervous
