My mother is ruining my dating experiences. You see she has always been an overprotective mother. But, it is getting to a point when this is getting ridiculous beyond words. You see I'm 21 years old and my mother still wants my dates to come inside and have chats with my dates. Also, she sometimes asks to see their ids and sometimes photocopys the ids. Also, when my date and I are driving to a resteraunt or something, my mom follows us and takes down their driving licences. Also, she still gives me a curfew for, I still live with her. Also, she calls me twice or three times on my dates.This is annoying me. What should I do? I mean what could I say to my mother so, she will back off?

She doesn't sound like the kind of person who will back off just because you ask her to. I think you need to get out of her house and get an apartment of your own. Find some roomates so it doesn't cost too much. Don't let her know when you are going on dates. You are old enough that you don't have to report to your mom, but as long as you're living at home, you will continue to have this problem, and it will continue to be a huge hinderance to your dating life.

How about moving out. I insist my nieces dates come in to meet me it is rude not to. I also insist on seeing their id's. I don't follow them on dates and when she lived with me she had a curfew. Don't answer your phone call her when you go to the rest room and say hello mom I'm fine and hang up. When my niece moved out she was free from my over protection. but she still calls when she is out on a date so I will know she is all right. You can't insist on being treated like a adult when you live with her like a child.. I bet if you get attacked one day you will wish she had followed you. She is worried, and in these days and times you have to admit she has just cause.

She cares about you and don't want to see you get hurt.There are many guys who will take advantage of girls and your Mom probaly don't want to see that happens to you.I would sit down down and talk to your mom about it,and if you don't like the rules you could move out and be thankful you have a Mom.

this is a tricky situation....but your mother is DEFINITELY invading your privacy, which is technically not legal, since you are not a minor anymore. and a CURFEW? yikes. I would say you need to sit down and talk to your mum about privacy and how you are not a kid anymore, but it seems to me that this is a lost case. but it doesn't hurt t try to get your feelings through to her. if anything else, maybe you should try moving out when it is convinient for you.

She must love you a lot. Try to talk to her, tell her that you are a grown women, and if she persist on doing this you will just have to move out, this might scare her and make her stop at least for a while

if you think you are old enough then leave or move out otherwise she will continue to treat you as her baby.so far as you are in her house you are under her,if you dont want to then move out and be your own boss if you can really take care of yourself.
