i think its cuz you're still a little timid about diving. when i started, our coach didnt allow anyone to wear knee pads or elbow pads, etc. that way, if we dove wrong, it would hurt. the only way to do a front dive without hurting yourself is to land on your chest. once your hands come down from the bump and hit the ground, move them backwards as if pushing yourself to slide forward. our coach put a table and made is all run as fast as we could and dive under it. everyone was more scared of hitting their heads on the table than they were of being hurt on the floor so everyone dove. so basically, just go for it. dont hold anything back and land on your chest.

The best way to dive in volleyball without getting hurt is a side stride or a side roll. Front dive on the chest is only good for males to use. If you are going to do a front dive, you are going to be playing the ball with your hands and therefore shouldn't land on your wrists, but on your chest. To practice it, when you dive, you use your wrist to push you back but make sure they are at your sides shoulder width apart. Another way to practice is by doing the worm. Hope this helps.

I dont play volleyball, but i have fallen forward in a dive running away from a pack of bees and I broke my scaphoid in my wrist which put me in a full arm cast for over 3 months. when your diving in volleyball I would reccomend taking the impact with your elbows and arms and a little bit of your upper body leaving your hands and wrists open to hit the ball. This will protect you from injuring your wrists and with the impact being absorbed by both the arms and upperbody together the fall will be smoother. Goodluck!

hey bro i am happy to call u this as i broke my elbow joint in the same way as you ya i got it back altogether n back in the court now ya the best way to do it is to use the shoulder, have to forget that u have a hand at that instant n keep it inside the frame of the shoulder n then not skid, rather try rolling man that helps so when you dive, fall on the shoulder and roll to the side.

Watch a college game... when they dive for a ball.. They hit and kind of land on their side and roll right back up.. Smart and also very quick to get back up to see what's going on.

Try using elbow or forearm pads & learn to fall on those parts of your body. Try looking on the internet for X-Games info b/c a lot of those guys train on "how to fall" so they don't get injured (maybe just bruised - ha ha!) & can keep playing. I heard several skateboard stars talking about this. Maybe also do a search for sports training and look for info about falling in a way that's less of an impact on your body.

there are two things you need to make sure never touch the ground... your chin and your knees..... what you do is you get with left foot in front of right...... at and angle and have your hands in bumping position then take a step with your right as far as you can so you left knee is almost practicall touching the ground and lean forward to get the ball...... then after you hit the ball you put your hands on the ground and kind of push off with your hands and make sure they go up. also lift your knees and make sure your chin is up. you should slide on your stomach and look like a penguin

always tuck your arm under your body instead of aiming it at the ground. Point your shoulder at the ground instead, and as you touch, try to roll across your back. Watch how footballers or cricketers land as the dive to catch the ball. Always tuck your arms under your body and take the impact across your back, but roll, so you don't wind yourself.
