Just wonder cause I know we have gangs, but gangs are nothing like the mofia. They kill but the mofia was rich........they had a certain respect that the gangs do not have. Gangs just kill and most are poor and if they are rich it isnt like the mofia rich.

Not the mafia of old. The new gangs think they are mafia, but are nothing more than cheap knockoffs. However, the are more dangerous to the average citizen. The new breed doesn't care about being discreet about their killings. Every killing is meant to look like an over the top mob hit. They don't care who is around, they just go about their business intimidating people to keep quiet. That only works for so long before people start snitching and they get arrested. The mafia still exists, but not to the extent it has in the past. They tend to stay out of the headlines, collect the money, and let jackasses like MS-13 fill the papers.
