Sauce is a more general term, including, among other things, steak sauce, BBQ sauce, spaghetti sauce. Ketchup is a particular kind of sauce, i.e. ketchup is a sauce but not all sauces are ketchup.

For one thing, most ketchup is processed with sugar and salt and God only knows what else.
A sauce is easily made at home and can be either broth or cream based (like cheese sauce).
Gravy (though I hate the stuff) would be considered another sauce...it's made from the drippings of the cooked bird or meat that you have cooked.
Sauces you can generally season to taste. Ketchup is ketchup. You get what the store sells you.

hey buddy look,.......generally wen talking about an tomato sauce....the extract of only tomato with added external flavour ,presevatives... is called a sauce.....and an extract from tomatoes containing flavout of garlin and and some more indgredients can be called as an ketchup.
