I've heard that people that work out in the morning often work out on an empty stomach. Is that good or bad? Especially if they're going to be lifting weights.

When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is some LIGHT exercise, 20-30 min cardio, or 20 min pilates etc, this is fine, because u have a fresh start, but throughout the day u should eat a snack 2 hours b4 exercise for energy, or a meal 3-4 hours b4 exercise for energy. Eatting right b4 u exercise is a BAD idea, u have to let ur food digest, I learned this the hard way, during spinning class, 1 hour after eatting I threw up, ughhhh.

It depends on what the medication is and what it is for. Some medications attach to the oils in foods which are then absorbed by the body. Some medications tend to make people have stomach upsets unless there is food to absorb the extra acid the stomach produces as a reaction to their digestion. Some medications are taken to either enhance, delay, or otherwise alter the digestion of foods so when they are taken is very important. In other words, without more information we can not give you a good answer. I hope what I have said will help you.

If I don't work out on an empty stomach I feel sluggish and get side cramps. I eat a banana or wheat toast after my workout. That works pretty well.

If you are just going to do cardio it is pretty good for you, because you will burn more fat. It is hard to do both cardio and weights because of the lack of energy you may have(at least for me). If you can do one or the other go for that and do what you didn't after work, school, or whatever you have to do during the day.
