If Jesus existed today, what occupation or method of preaching would he use today? Would he be like Oprah and have a talk show? Would he be a celebrity? Would he be like Billy Graham? Maybe some athlete?

I think he would be like J.K. Rowling.

Occupation:- Somebody whom we see everyday but never notice. Or whom we persistently look at with disgust and never open our eyes to the other side of them.
Method of preaching:- using the less advantaged.

I like you're idea of J. K. Rowling.- i can see elements of religion even in her books, but i know thats debatable.

It's all hypothetical,Dude. It's a pure guessing game. How could anyone know what Jesus would be like today? He could be absolutely anything,Anything. If I really had to guess what he would be then I would say a carpenter and part time preacher or vice versa.I say that because these are things that I have heard about him.If someone asked:What would J.F.K. be today? Most people would probably say a politician.Caesar?an emperor.Sid Cesar?a comedian.John Wayne?an actor.Geronimo?an Indian Chief.Shakespeare?a poet and playwright.Peter,Paul and Mary?1960's folksingers or people mentioned in the Bible. The natural thing for people to reply are things that they know or have heard about an individual from the past.Believe me,I'm not trying to make a mockery of your question, just a point. What I'm wondering is--How do you see Jesus as being like J.K. Rowling?

Well, we know from the Bible that He was far from a celebrity... I mean... He wouldn't have the looks to be the next Oprah (Isaiah 53:2). I doubt He'd have the career of a lifetime, like an athlete (I mean... He was not a nobleman, nor scribe, nor governor, or some other person of importance... He was... a carpenter).

Perhaps an author would be more likened to what He is like, though I doubt like J. K. Rowling... but more akin to C. S. Lewis.

However, a street preacher is probably what He would do, since it speaks to the masses, is simple, He can speak to individuals on a 1-on-1 basis, and it eliminates the 'church on Sunday, sin on Monday' crowd.

If Jesus came down in human form today, I suppose he could be a celebrity and have a talk show to spread the Word, but he wouldn't act like a celebrity, in the sense that he would not have a 20 million dollar house, 10 cars, etc. He would give all of his earnings to the poor and to charities. In his spare time he would preach to the afflicted and to the drug users and prostitutes that no one else wants to get anywhere near. He would tell the other celebrities that they must do the same thing in order to be Godly people. All of the poor, diseased, destitute, and disadvantaged would love him. All of the rich people and celebrities would despise him and think he is crazy. Just like in the New Testament. He would eventually be assassinated.

He'd be doing something useful, dunno what. Maybe He'd be farming, or selling shares. Doesn't matter, cause Jesus would still be telling it like it is, and making the world a better place. Would He be a celebrity...? I think He was something of a celebrity when He lived, but I think He'd have used it to get His message across to more people. But even so, JK Rowling? Are you implying that He sold fantasy? Then get a grip, because what He taught is how to deal with real life by living in faith, and loving God's Word.

I think a rock star might suit His purposes better. Bono from U2 (a Christian man) also employs a type of artistic parable to make people feel the point.

What occupation would he have? I don't know he may not even have an occupation that really doesn't matter. As far as his method of preaching, perhaps he would use the mass media. This would be the best way to get his message out to the most people.

If Jesus had not already appeared on earth and showed up for the first time in our culture His nature would be exactly the same as we have it recorded in the gospels. He would be of low birth, not born into money, he would be despised by main stream religion. (Don't forget that there would be no such thing as Christianity in any form if Jesus were just showing up today) He would still be killed today as he was then, because He had (has) to fulfill the prophesy about his coming that appear in the Old Testament.

Luke 8:1 says when he was here the first time, he traveled from city to city and village to village.
He chose this method.
He wasn't against large gatherings where he'd give a speech (note sermon on mount) but for the most part it was going around to provide a one-on-one.
Why should he change if he existed today?

Jesus was in human form, a rabbi. He would no doubt still be a rabbi. However, his roots were as the son of a carpenter. We don't know if he was raised in the trade, but from his parables he may have been more familiar with shepherding or fishing.

Matthew 13
53When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. 54Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" they asked. 55"Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?" 57And they took offense at him.

he is always there but unfortunately we are at the gross sensual level of existence.
Jesus is the pure human pole in which the Christ Power manifests.
The moment this power withdraws all the creation comes into destruction.
There is never a time when this power (the Love Energy) is not there .
But this Love energy manifests itself in a pure human body to guide souls thirsting for liberation from the cycle of births n deaths.
He exists even today n is LOVE PERSONIFIED.He earns by the sweat of his brow n to look at from the outside he is a man like u n me.But from inside he is one with the infinite power of God that creates billions of universes n solar systems within the twinkling of an eye time.
The name of the body in which this power has manifested may be different.
rgds n love to all.If you are truly seeking out for God within you please see the website www.santmat.net
