It sounds like he is in the late stages, I lost a few cats to FIV. The nose bleeding is most probably from FIV.

One of my cats is FIV. Thank God he is doing well no problems. All my cats had a nasal infection last year and he had eye discharge with it but the ointment cleared everything right up. He bounced back in a week the other cats got better quicker.. He is six now and I bring him every three months just for a check up. He was a stray I found under a house and I didn't know for years he even had FIV. He is an indoor cat and he gets a weekly dose of Interferon to keep him from getting sick. I keep a close eye on him all the time and I pray nothing ever happens. If the vet was not clear take him to another one or a specialist. My vet said cats can have it their entire life and still lead a long life if properly cared for.

You need to get him back in before Sunday to address the fact he's not eating, urinating, or defecating. Sounds like he's really going downhill. From what I understand, there are not stages of FIV...they either have it or they don't. What actually kills them is the fact their immune system isn't working so they can't fight off infection. ANYTIME an FIV+ cat starts showing symptoms of any kind of illness, they need to get to the vet for treatment. Even if your cat has had this discharge before, the vet needs to see him for it again. Your vet can do a nasal swab, that will tell more about the cause of the discharge. As far as cheking for cancer, X-Rays and bloodwork are the best tests. Bloodwork will indicate if bloodcount is normal or not, as well as if the internal organs are functioning properly. X-rays will show if there are any changes or tumors in the nasal bone areas. Has your vet given you ANY information about FIV? If not, you may need to find a new vet, or do lots of research on it yourself. Most importantly, you need to call your vet today and see if there's any chance of getting in sooner. Let them know everything that's going on. If they can't get you in, go to another vet...whoever can get you in. You kitty is very sick and needs treatment asap. If your kitty is uncomfortable and not eating, there is a good chance you need to consider euthanizing him...you're not doing him any favors by prolonging his suffering. PS, if you've got any other cats, you need to have them tested and vaccinated for FIV asap. They likely already have it, but if not, you need to protect them from it.

I actually have a cat being treated for being a hit by a car. But nasal discharge of blood may be a sign that he has a lung issue. You may want to check for tender areas where it may have been internally bruised aswell. But FIV is generally only known to shut down organs.

I'm sorry to hear he is in the late stages of FIV. enjoy your time now because he is not long for this world. and educate yourself, you have this wide wourld to find information on the computer. research and learn. Perhaps you can take care of FIV + cats in the future. They really are special needs kittys and hard to find homes for. But to answer your question a veterinarians or technicians advice is really the best. The only advice is to keep him confortable and keep his quatily of life in mind. By the way i'm sure you know by now FIV is feline Aids. not leukemia (felv) which is cancer...

I am sorry for the poor kitty. Usually cats who are FIV+ do not have cancer, the problems arise because the immune system can be compromised by carrying the virus.
There must be a Yahoo group for FIV+ cats. Do a search there. I am on the feline cancer and feline crf groups. You will find a lot of support on your group. They have had the same experiences you are having and have lots of information for you by direct posting of your problems and/or searching their archives for information.

FIV+ can cause all the other diseases and/or infections. Pin the vet down with all your questions. We had a cat with FIV and it was pretty bad for him; he lived to be 14 years old.

He could have a urainary tract infection. This will intent the cat agony and they are inclined to urinate in areas instead of their litter box. In any even you continue to will wish to take your kitty to a vet and be certain he's now not in pain. Excellent good fortune! I just found out my young one of 5 has FIV, which is why she is not responding to the medications that are being given to treat another issue. As I am told, you never know what this disease will do or what organ it will stunt, but what we do know is, it's not an overnight fix. They just found blood in her discharge, which indicates the liver, however, to treat it to the fullest, it will be a long drawn out process, with not much hope in the end.
They best of luck to you and yours.
It is never easy
