I want to get a haircut, but I'm incredibly indecisive. Would side swept bangs look better with longer or shorter hair? Should I keep my natural chestnut brown hair or dye it a lighter brown?

Try long bangs first. Then if you decide you dont like it then you can get shorter bangs.
Dont dye your hair permenetley. First try one of those hair dyes that last about a couple of weeks.
If you really like the new hair color.
Then get it permentaly done.
If not then the color will come out in about 3 weeks.
With the hair, If you have an oval shaped face then get a short hair cut with long bangs.
If you have a round face then get a short hair cut with short bangs.

Don't dye it for sure. With fall right around the corner, your chestnut color would be great. Lighter color is better for summer.
Side bangs are great. I have them and love them. They look especially pretty if your hair is longer and you put your hair up and leave the bangs down.
Don't go too short to begin with. Remember it is easier to cut more off later than to grow back sooner.

Since you didn't mention your face shape, skin tone, eye color, time you want to spend fixing you hair, then I can't really help you. I think you should go to your stylist and have your stylist tell you what they think would look best. They went to school for this very thing so they should be able to tell you the best answer. I wouldn't change a style dramatically, just in case it's not right. Just get a professional consultation and their opinion, and don't do anything drastic. I'm sure it'll look fabulous!

Side bands look good with both long and short hair, it really just depends on your face shape, i reccomed asking your stylist. Also, getting lowlights or highlights first might help you decide which color you like best for your hair. Winter is just around the corner so darker shades and tones might look better.

it doesnt matter how long your hair is...looks better with layers though, blends more naturally. and dont dye all your hair, just get home highlites to give your hair more depth and movement
