Lasagna is so heavy (and so good) I think the only side dish suitable is a garden salad.

A good lasagna as the main dish. Try a spinach salad with a good red wine vinaigrette. Don't forget sugar snap peas make an excellent side dish as well. For wine a 99 Chateau Brion goes really well. (Lite dryness really fruity).

Lasagne is a meal in itself. I usually make an antipasta salad and good garlic bread. Cheesecake for dessert or lemon meringue pie. Lasagne is heavy,so I don't think you need anything else that is heavy. If you just want other side dishes,I would recommend a vegetable casserole.

Italian tomatoes and fresh mozzarella (bocconcini) drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Add some olives. Serve as is, or over a bed of lettuce.

I like to serve a tossed fresh green salad and garlic bread with a light dessert such as fruit or jello.
