Use either Got2b Curl-Vacious shampoo and conditioner(green bottles), Sunsilk anti-poof shampoo and conditioner(blue bottles), or Sunsilk hydra tlc shampoo and conditioner(pink bottles). The towel dry your hair and use Got2b curl-vacious defining curl creme and start using a wide tooth comb. my fav is Scunci soft comfort grip comb.

The poofiness is perhaps due to frizz. John Frieda's products are the best for curly hair and you can buy them at any drug store. Wash your hair with John Frieda curl shampoo and conditioner, then apply Frizz-ease to control the frizz. Use curl mousse and blow dry with a diffuser, not with an ordinary hair drier - the diffiuser usually comes as an attachment. If you dont have time for the that, let your hair dry naturally, and don't touch it too much. You also don't have to wash it everyday. John Frieda also have a a curl reviver spray which you use to wet your hair and scrunch up the curls. Good luck.

If you don't want to straighten with a ceramic/tourmaline flat iron that won't damage your hair (I use the SEDU), and keep your curls, then you should try a cream called Ensure by Nexxus. You can find it at any drugstore. It used to be a professional salon product, but for some reason it was handed off to drugstores. It's amazing! Just wet your hair and apply like an amount of a dime or nickel on your palm and kind of skrunch your hair all around (if that gives you the right idea). Leave it to air dry and it should look fabulous!

Moisurize! Moisurize! A leave-in Conditioner is the first thing to try. Also, a silicone based smoothing serum will help with the frizzies. Also, for styling, don't use a mousse, use a heavier gel-type styling aid to "weigh-down" your hair. The best thing to do is to layer these tips in gradually- try the leave-in conditioner first, if its still too poofy try the gel, and then if it still is too much, use the serum. One or all of these will help!

I was having this problem. Then one time when I got my hair cut the stylist told me I wasn't using enough mousse in my hair, and she proceeded to put in a ton of the stuff. But it worked, so now that's what I do. My favorite is Finesse touchables mousse, I can put a lot of it in my hair and it doesn't get crunchy or sticky. And make sure that after you shampoo you are using plenty of conditioner.

Use the John Frieda five step Frizz ease proccess. My stepdaughter has VERY curly hair and it works wonders and my sister has average curly hair and she uses it too.

Fourth step: VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE LESS POOFY!

Final step: finish and shine

Note for each step there are a variety of different products that you can try but these work the best if you want your hair to stay curly but without the poof
