It's all about diet and exercise.
1. Cut out soda, fruit juice, junk food, fast food, and AS MUCH sugar as possible. Eat lean meats (chicken, fish), beans, whole grains, and high-fiber foods. When you can, replace carbs like pasta and cereal and bread with vegetables and protein. Carbs like that aren't that good when trying to lose weight.
2. Exercise for 30 mins everyday. Running, jogging, interval training, cycling, swimming, etc. BUT KEEP IN MIND that whatever you do MUST bring your heart rate up significantly. If the heart rate's not up, then you're really not doing much. For you, your max heart rate would be 206. You want to keep your HR in it's 65-85% max range while exercising. So keep your HR at 134-175 BMP.

I know for a fact that you do not need to lose weight. You are absolutely perfect the way you are. You should only loose weight if you feel as though it would be beneficial to you either health wise, or if it would also increase your self image and esteem. If you do decide to follow the unsubstantiated advice of your doctor (whom at this point I am questioning the competence of), then I would bear in mind that you must find a regimen which best suits you. It is not about entirely restricting your self from the foods which are too fattening and perhaps not the best choices, rather, eating in moderation. You must be sure never to skip a meal, perhaps even having several smaller meals daily, as well as maintaining regular exercise. Be sure never to overwork yourself, and realize your limitations. This is quite hypocritical of me to be offering this advice, but I hope this helps. Also, from my own experiences, I have to tell you that just because a doctor has two more letters before their name, it doesn’t mean that they are always correct, and you cannot take what ANYONE says to heart, even someone with a medical degree. If I listened to everything an “authority” figure said, I would be half the person I am today, both on the outside, and the inside. Don’t be discouraged, and be true to yourself and the people which truly matter. Please remember that what works for some does not necessarily help another, and while weighing less than I do for someone your height may be beneficial to the average teen, it may be harmful to another. Good luck.

If you like dancing trying doing so. You can either use your cd player or if you're a real TV fan, you should watch music videos and dance while watching them.
Other solution could be your stairs at home. Make a game out of going up and downstairs. You can tally sheet on a daily basis the number of times you do your steps and as you rank higher reward yourself with your favorite treat once a week! If you don't have stairs, try an alternative. For instance, jumping from room to room or whatever is fun to you!
Be positive! If you enjoy it, you'll lose the weight and have fun!

Find something you enjoy doing that will keep you active.
Start walking/jogging. You might enjoy the time to yourself to think, plus that also releases endorphins for a natural high.
Find a sport you like and go play, practice often too.
Call a friend and ask him or her to walk with you or play basketball (or something) with you
Karate/martial arts lessons?
If you're a homebody, or really really self consious, try fitness tapes/DVDs. Look for one that suits you - yoga, kickboxing, body sculpting, etc.
Make an effort to be active EVERY day, one way or another. Change what you're doing when you get bored.

Reduce calories by 500 a day or exercise for 500 calories a day. Do that for 7 days and you will have lost your 1st lb. Switch from reg milk to skim, Pepsi to Water or seltzer and cheeses to low fat cheeses, Avoid fast foods or make better choices there. When you're hungry - drink water. then if you're still hungry eat - you'll eat less, YOU CAN DO IT if you really want to!

If you don't usually exercise start off slowly. Walking is good.....every day try to walk at a good pace for maybe 15 minutes out and 15 minutes back.
Then do more minutes at a faster pace.
Walking is cheap, except for walking shoes you don't need equipment, you can do it anytime, and having a partner is good but not necessary.
