I thought atheism was a lack of faith. Godless.
Faith that there is no God.
Christians claim to know what atheists believe because the definition of the word is pretty simple- clear cut.
Anyone who has a computer can be here. That is arrogant, not to mention ignorant for anyone to say atheists shouldn''t be here on Yahoo answers. Not too Christ like eh? I am a Christian and personally don't care who is on here. I can ignore anyone I choose to. I think everyone can. Its just resisting the urge to argue points with people who have their own opinion that is harder for some than others.

Christians have this need to show they are better, more intelligent, saved, converted and all that rubbish.
They demand the freedom to think, believe and worship what they wish in peace. Sadly they demand that non Christians should be denied the same rights and seek to dictate and indoctrinate.
The athiests and believers in other faiths are actually much more moral, kind, considerate and accepting of other people than Christians so it is no wonder that Chritianity is becoming a dirty word and the churches are emptying.

Everyday I come to the "religion and spirituality" site. I ask these kind of questions and expect to answer these kind of questions. Instead I hear a lot of Christ slamming. If you don't want to believe that's fine- we live in America and you have that option. Why oh why are you on this site? Why not go about your life and go to a different site and ask other questions to other people? You are not changing anyone with your comments. If someone has found Jesus and has him in his heart he will never listen to your opinions and insults and question his belief. I know because I have him in my heart and I would not trade that in a million years for your approval or happiness. It is a happiness I've never known and a love deeper than the ocean. I am just lucky I did find him and I do believe. I don't hate you and I wish you the best. I only ask please find a different hobbie other than bashing other people and what 'they" believe in. There is a whole world out there. Find something else to do please! peace.

As the exisence of God can neither be proven or disproven, any belief about His existence (pro or con) is a matter of faith. You can examine all the arguements. all the "proofs", all the logics, etc. before making a decision of the existence of God (pro or con). But in the end, it is a decision that you make. It is a matter of faith, not fact, either way. You can feel that your belief is a valid, logical, reasonable and correct belief - but it is just that - a belief. It is a matter of faith.

to say athiesm is a faith is not declaring we know what you believe it's just that YOU BELIEVE IN ATHIESM so it is a faith. the fact that you believe it to be true at all makes it a faith. what do you want? for us to say athiesm is fact and that's where you begin, anything else is a faith? athiesm isn't fact any more than Christianity is. you might believe it to be fact, but that's your opinion and we could have that argument until we die and know for sure. and...we don't criticize you for being anywhere. your choice. but we believe that you do have the same choice as everyone else. we believe it's a fight for souls. it's not arrogance. it's not even our fight.

I use to be one of you. If it's not a faith, then why do you insist on imposing your beliefs on the rest of us? By using the government to remove religious things from public places. Most notably, The Ten Commandments.

Because religious belief systems need enemies. Religions persist to the extent that they can attract and retain adherents. Convincing adherents that disbelief is "foolish" or "satanic" or likely to land you in hell is a good way to convince them to stay in the fold, and to try to spread the belief system to their families and friends. A religion that didn't do that effectively would simply disappear.

If atheism is not a faith, why did you post this as a religion and spirituality question?
