the light is in the steering column, set, resume, and coast.

You're talking about the nite glow light in the steering wheel, You can remove the horn pad and air bag....DO NOT DISCONNECT IT.. and you can get to the switch. You can open the switch carefully and go to an electronics store to see if they have a replacement or go to the dealer or junk yard and get a replacemnt switch..

If the light is in the dash you have to remove the instrument cluster and either it has a small led bulb or the cluster is bad!

The lights in the switches, are made with the switches, if that's what you're talking about.

bad clockspring maybe... I've only ever had to replace one, but if it's got no continuity between the harness connector and the pad switch, that's the most likely problem..
