you don't need to train a rott to be aggressive. if someone is hurting you, it's in their nature to protect you.

Why in the world would you want to make this dog a liability? When you own a working dog (a dog trained for protection) you now have a liability which means if the dog does bite someone you could lose everything you own.
The breed you have is always going to be protective to you and your family, it is just the makeup of the breed. I owned the sweetest
German Shepherd in the world. He loved the kids, adults, other animals and anything he was brought around but when that dog saw danger,
he would really have an attitude change. He was never trained for attack work but being the breed he was he was always alert to danger.
He never attacked anyone but his presence alone made people think twice about doing anything stupid. If you are really sure about training your dog for this kind of work, look up a well known trainer in personal protection. Do
not attempt to train your dog by yourself, someone is going to get hurt.

keep in mind that this is just my opinion. rottweilers are very loyal dogs and i believe that if your dog felt that you were in danger or in a life threatening situation he would definately react in a protective manner. it has always been my opinion that you can have a friendly sociable non agressive pet that will defend when the chips are down but otherwise be passive and tolerant on a daily basis. not only that but the sight of a rottweiler is a pretty good deterrent all by itself, think about it. would you go poking around someones property if you came across a rottweiler that you werent acquainted with? or heck even if you were acquainted with? i don't think i would. i feel it is senseless and cruel to train an animal of any kind to be aggressive and mean that is what can give a breed a bad name or too cause an otherwise good family pet to attack a familymember, think about it...you read about it all the time, "FAMILY PET ATTACKS AND KILLS CHILD" it's inhumane to encourage a pet to attack and be vicious. it's not their nature. protecting the ones that take care of and protect and feed and love them. that just comes natural to them. no need to encourage viciousness. it's not fair

You could try obedience training your dog first. It's not a good idea to have any dog practice attacking....this can be very dangerous and could backfire as your dog may attack innocent persons such as your friends. Find an obedience school and get her fully trained. You might then want to check out Schutzhund training where the conditions are very controlled. (Schutzhund means "protection dog." Your dog doesn't need to be trained as a police dog. Just because your dog is friendly doesn't necessarily mean she won't protect you. Please do consider obedience and then very little Schutzhund training with a licensed trainer. Good luck.

Unless you really know what you are doing (and if you have to ask a question on here, you do not), you are asking for alot of trouble trying to do that. Protection training is for professionals. Novice owners who do that usually end up getting hurt by the dog themselves.
If you ever really need her protection, she will. Most dogs will, without any kind of protection training.

My dog was extremely friendly and easy going. I thought he'd never do anything if I was in a bad situation.
One day, a friend who was in the military, was showing me some self defense moves and my dog charged at the guy. My dog did not like to see me being handled in that manner. (My friend was not hurting me at all but demonstrating on me how I was supposed to grab an attacker.)
You don't need to teach your dog to attack. If provoked, even the mildest dog will try and protect you.

If you truly want to train your dog to protect you, you need the help of a professional trainer. Teaching a dog to be aggressive is a risky thing, and not all dogs are capable of using aggression wisely. You may be better off carrying pepper spray.

Sounds like you're the exact kind of person that gives dog breeds a bad name. You don't deserve a dog. Rotties are great dogs, naturally protective if treated with respect, you don't have to make them more aggressive. You make me sick!

If you want him trained you need to take him to a professional. Usually they prefer them extremely young to start this training and they will take the dog for the training and it will cost you a bundle. Or you can attempt it yourself and await the knock from the local animal control to take your vicious dog.

Buy a freakin' gun & leave the dog alone. How you gonna feel if you dog chomps on a perfect stranger? You'll end up in the poor house & your pooch will be destroyed. Sounds great, huh?
