Eating pineapple after surgery helps the body heal faster. It has a special enzyme. As for pain, take a few deep breaths when it gets bad and focus on something else.

Monavie juice sometimes (but not always) gives pain relief. Willow bark tea is used by herbalists; it is a natural form of aspirin. Magnet wraps can help speed healing and relieve pain (search Magnets on Yahoo's search engine). Rest the foot as much as possible. Be sure your diet is good to provide all the nutrients needed for healing and repair.

Try heat or cold which ever feels best and try some relaxing music with your foot elevated slightly on a pillow. If you can take ibuprofen eat a light lunch and take it also. Mind over matter seem to help not to think about it too. Good luck

Excersise is a great way even if you can not excersise the part that hurts it tricks your brain into feeling better. But then again a little bit of pain medicine can help a lot in the recovery process

by the way, my teacher often said that when you thing something to deeply, it will bothers your life. so, try to live your life without think to much about it, but not forget about it.

Take the pain pillls as directed. Your body needs to heal, and it will heal slower if you are in pain. Most people that worry about becoming "hooked" on pain pills don't become dependant on them. Hope you feel better soon!

Why?
Your pain pills prescribed by your doctor are just fine and what you need. You trusted him for the surgery, listem to him for the pain pills.
Do not use herbs after your surgery!!!
Some can decrease the ability your blood has to coagulate.
You can end-up bleeding more!!!!

Try icing it, relaxing, doing something to keep you occupied like sewing, crosswords, or reading. Maybe that will help. Is Tylenol too much for you to take? Advil also works wonders without the medicine head feeling.

No medication at all...or just not Rx narcotics like codeine and such?
I suggest Tylenol...or Motrin (ibuprofen) thy are OTC meds...
but If you're going to meet the pain head on I suggest you meditate and try Lamaze breathing when it gets real bad...also try to sleep a lot...
Good luck...hope at least one of us here can help...
