Cloth diapers (nappies) are the best to use instead of disposable ones.
Cloth is better for the baby's health and comfort and you don't put all that plastic, paper, chemicals and human waste into the already overloaded landfills.
Don't buy the store brands because they are usually cheaply made and won't hold up under continuous use. Search the internet for good diapers and buy them there, usually cheaper. You may even consider making your own, there are patterns out there that you can buy and suppliers of all the materials needed, if you are handy with a sewing machine.
I'm an incontinent adult that wears diapers 24 / 7 and I use cloth. I made my own and they are much more comfortable than the disposables that I used to buy in the stores. I wouldn't use anything else.
Think about why cloth is the best for the baby, after all, isn't the baby's welfare that counts, not our convenience?

I used them with my son for about 4 months before I went back to work. He was 18 months old or so at the time. Prior to that I stayed home so it was no problem to use nappies. I washed a load every other day and all want well.
The brand of covers I used were Prorap Classics. They faired very well. I didn't use AIO ( all in one) because they were more expensive.

I too am going to use reusable nappies. I have opted for the terry square nappies as I feel they are more practical than the shaped ones.
Good luck

don't know brands cause I never used them. I thought about it but once you have your child do you really want to spend all the time cleaning them and stuff? You could have just spent the time with your newborn. I was lucky with my daughter because we can use cheapy diapers like walmart and target brand diapers and never leaks. (using them for 2 years but starting to potty train) and then with my son we are using pampers only ones that don't leak for him but I don't mind the little bit more they cost because there is no mess takes a minute and your done back enjoying your child. Thats just my opinion

I used Kooshies all in one, they were good, but all the washing got too much on returning to work. Used bio-degradeable ones instead - Moldex or Nature's own.
